Finally, PICTURES And my painting setup (I airbrushed the tank just after the above pictures): (Yes, that's a shoebox ) And my "sophisticated" light setup (had to move the light for painting): I'll post some more of the Ab'd Sturmie after supper. -Oliver

Cool stuff - it makes a whole world of difference havin' an AB at yer disposal Noll eh? The shoe box works fine as a booth but yer wanna think about gettin' some extraction, certainly if yer spraying enamels and a mask wouldn't go amiss fella Well, It was just a temporary booth I will make something better for the next coat of paint. Weirdly, the brand is called "Folk Art Enamels", but the paint is actually acrylic (or so says the label). I am going to go get a mask tomorrow though; I was halfway through painting when I realized the I should have one and used a microfiber cloth and some tape as a temporary one to finish the painting - a trip to Home Hardware is planned for tomorrow though -Oliver

Just a quick question; Would anyone have any ideas about adding grass etc to the dio? I was thinking about old paint brush heads for some tufts, but I'm not sure what else to use, and real plants (moss etc) will die and turn brown.

I have seen some use items like what you are thinking....paintbrushes and such!! If it works, have at it! Check Scenic Express: www.sceneryexpress.com/departments.asp?dept=1040Check under Silflor. Great stuff all around and the buffalo tufts are perfect!!! Other ground cove check with Armor Farm (just out) Outstanding scenery items!! armorfarm.com/Give the bristles a shot, and let us know how it turns out!!

Hiya Oliver, The best way I've found to add grass is to thin PVA glue 60/40. (60 being glue) with water. Then using an old brush paint this on where you want the grass, then cover the whole thing in your scenic grass. Leave it for a min or two then gently tip off the excess. Finally, blow the grass from one direction, believe it or not this will make it stand up and look very realistic IMHO anyway Have look at the grass on my FW wreck to see what you get.

I (finally) have gotten around to working on the Sturmie more! I have just applied some pigments, as well as Hairspray+salt (I'm posting this while waiting for the HS+S to dry). My paint mask has also finally arrived (or I wouldn't be working on the tank right now ). The mask: As soon as I have found and AB'd a cool paint scheme and the HS+S has dried, I will post some more pics. -Oliver EDIT: IT now seems that I added too much salt, and most (nearly all) of the paint came off when i brushed the salt off. Tomorrow-ish i will redo the technique, but with far less (if any) salt.

Hmm, I'm thinking that I might possibly alter the dio and tank significantly - make it be a tiger in the early stages of conversion to a Sturmie. I'd have a tarp etc for visual appeal and to hide the gap between the engine and main interior. What do you think? What it could look like: I'd take off the sturmie's boxy ...well box (LOL)... and separate the intact pieces and have them partly built, leaning against a wall, etc. I'm not sure what i will do about the hole in the side, but i can probably rig something up and cover it with a tarp. I will try to get started, but progress might be slow, as i have school, my job, and the KV-1S to work on. -Oliver

I've done some more work on the sturmie/bunker today Here's some pics: If the putty and CA that's currently holding the front and side panels on isn't enough to stop them coming off (it was very delicate and prone to slipping when i attached them) then i will probably make the front panel be held up by a meshwork of rods and the side being used as a way to cover the hole in the side, etc. I will add fake weld beads once everything is assembled, as I'm just trying to get everything together at this stage . -Oliver
