Hi all A few people have made comment about wanting too have a go at sculpting a figure, so i thought it might be an idea if we had a group sculpt/scratch build. It wouldnt be for a while yet but at least those interested could could let me know and if there is enough interest we could take it from there.

What a great idea Paul! I was just talking about sculting something this morning. ;D I, for one, would be interested!! I am thinking right off the bat, would be a materials/tools list Even if it was just the basics to get prepared for whatever date is chosen!....Just a thought!

T im thinking on the same lines, i will work out the rough cost of all the materials that would be needed and then all interested would have plenty of time to get everything together before we start

Hiya Paul, I'd be up for it , never done it before but I have an idea or two. Need plenty of help on the way, maybe you could post in stages, in a 'how to' sorta way and I could follow the techniques?

Steve that would be the idea, pick a figure thats interesting but quite straight forward, not only to sculpt but to paint as well, then for each step ill do it in stages then post it, then everyone can follow that. it also means that if someone is having difficulty with a certain bit then it can be reviewed and altered as needed

"pick a figure thats interesting but quite straight forward, not only to sculpt but to paint as well"So you mean no 8000 Dragon Scales or the .0000003mm fleur-de-lis? LOL!!!!! We will have to remember to make the Category for this build private to members only I think. That way guests can join the forum if they wish to learn and participate!!!

Blimey i didnt think there would be such a great response so quick , Robbo yr morph is the business ;D, ok ill sort out a few bits and get some details of what materials we will need. Has anyone any objection to the scale being 120mm, this is the size i normally work in and you can get a lot of detail for next to no effort. Paul

Hi all. well thanks for the great interest, ive had a think about this overnight, and because there are a few that have never done sny sculpting before, how about starting with a mannequin figure and building it up from there. Its a great way to start and also you can get the dimensions and proportions right. Now i dont know if everyone will want to make the same figure as a lot of us have varying tastes but here is the figure i am thinking of This is a model of Vercingetorix in 54mm. Now before you say ill never do that have a good look at it because its a good starting point for sculpting. On the whole its a lot of flesh but there are also several different materials to cover I.E cloth, fur, leather and metals and its all fairly straight forward, theres no complicated patterns to do and it would give everyone a good understanding of how to make the various parts and to end up with a fantastic figure that you made let me know what you all think Paul
