Paul Wow Paul! First- great idea for a GB. Second - you gave me a shock. When I saw that pic I immediately thought, "Where did Paul get that Picture of me at last years Halloween party?" That was before I started getting serious about my abs routine. Steve

Hi all
heres a quick list of the stuff that will be needed
120mm mannequin from michtoy.com. kit number WSM-M120 they are about $14.99 which is about £9.00 in real money.
the rest you can get on ebay set of sculpting tools £5.99 Needle files £5.49 Milliput probably one box will do about £3.00 and various grades of sandpaper. I should think that most of you will have just about all that, Dont all rush out and buy it i cant see this starting for a while yet but it gives you some idea about what is needed. If everyone is happy to do this figure we will stick with that

All I need is the mannequin. Can I try to use some different sculpting medium, like magic sculp? Obviously I mean one that doesn't need cooking...

Not to add any confusion, I opened up a Figure Board under the GB section. This will be locked for now. All the information regarding this GB will be placed there for references until which time an acceptable start time has been determined.
Carry on!! ;D

I am thinking that Paul was looking to see if this was good for all....as for a nice figure to start with. I am guessing Lukasz, this would be the place for suggestions!!! (psst....bikini clad Warhammer 40K!! )

Bullardino you can use whatever medium your happy with, i just prefer milliput Spud any will be fine Lukasz i just suggested this figure mainly because its quite simple and has many different materials to have a go at sculpting, but if you prefer there are mannequins of different scales so whatever scale that suits you On the whole guys this should be a great deal of fun.......NO stressing

Figured you would be around to join in when it starts Frank!! I can only imagine what you can add on as you go!! I think this is awesome as it will give most the simple idea on how to approach sculpting and if they add a personal touch as they go, all the better!! I am thinking Frank, a perfect sculpture from one side and a cyborg, scaled thing from the other kind of like Two-face from the Batman series I know you could pull it off!! ;D

Bit behind the times here, but great idea. An area I have always seen as completley out of my depth in, to even give it a go. the SBS format for all makes it alot easier to give it a go.
I'm in.

Hello MSC'ers!! Dicky is correct, as soon as Paul if feeling up to it and back in the game....Paul and MSC will be moving forward with this Group Build. Sooner rather than later, we here at MSC will be setting up a sign up for this group build as well as finalizing materials lists. The object is to give people enough time prior to the start of the Group Build to obtain a 120mm mannequin and any other sculpting supplies. There is an up to date list located here: modelerssocialclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=figuresgb&action=display&thread=1941 Any more questions, please fire away and we will do what we can at the moment to help answering them.

LOL...I hear you ER!!
But....
I am confident that under Paul tutelage that everyone who enters will step away with a finely crafted figure. Once you have the basics down there are many more options after that!! Yes...Zombies!! LOL!!! I thinkg the possibilities are endless.
I know I wish to take away a better grasp on manipulating kit supplied figs to give a more real and original appearance!!! LOL...I hope!! ;D

I am thinking that some or all of the principles that we will learn along the way can most certainly be applied to kit figures!! But for the build, the piece was selected for multiple reasons which all surround the genre on figure sculpting/painting. Skin, muscle tones, hair, metal....... But since we will have the information as the SBS goes on, you can access what you need along the way!!

Hi All
First of all many thanks to all of you for your patience, and hopefully this GB will soon get started, T is working on finalising the numbers then we can get all the bits ordered. As this is a new thing for me also it would be a great help to me if i could get some ideas as to how you would like this to work, for instance i am going to sculpt the figure exactly how it is in the picture, now i know some of you would like to do it different and i cant see a problem with that and that can be adapted as we go on. But take a good look at the figure and just think of ways you can make it "your own" and let me know either on this blog or a PM

Hey everybody....Paul!! ;D I have gotten a handle on 99% of this Group build at the moment! In a moment, after finishing this post (yeah, it will be long...sorry) I will click send on everything I have set up tonight...PM and E-mail notifications, Sign-up and Q&A thread as well as updating the main thread!! If you are interested in joining the group build, please take the time to visit the Figure Group Build Category. There is a Main page describing the scope of the group build, sign up thread and a section for Q&A as we go. Please feel free to bounce any and all ideas, as Paul explained, right here for now. Once we get going on the build this thread will more or less become obsolete and will be moved and locked in the Figure Group Build Section saving it for future references if needed. If you have any questions regarding the Group Build, Materials, Timing or discounts that will be offered to MSC members only, please feel free to post these in the Q&A section found in the Figure Group Build Category!! I will toss this out while still fresh in my head here....I am planning that the updates made by Paul will be posted in the Figure Group Build Category in a special thread created for him and will be locked as well as ONLY available to MSC members. I want everyone to feel free to ask all the questions they need to along the way. Any questions can certainly be asked along the way most likely in the Q&A section. I am thinking it will be easier to access the pictures and dialog Paul will have if we do not have to click through pages and pages of questions and such. Please let us know your thoughts about this. In addition I would like to suggest the starting and updating of your own individual build logs in the Group Build section if you want to share. Thank you!!!
