This weekend saw a good member of MSC,come over to the shores of good ole 'Blighty' from his home in Gladsaxe, Denmark.
As a result of my ill-fated attempt to revisit the REME collection where I live, Jack (H)ovman had already arranged to come over.
Just to prove this happened, this piccie was taken at Bovington Tank Museum, yesterday.....
Dicky F,who was the other host for this visit, will take up the story....
Having picked up Jack from Heathrow on Fri evening, we three set out for Bovington bright and early Saturday morning, best laid plans of mice and men and all that tho, heavy traffic conspired against us and it took us the best part of two hours to get there!
Jack had last visited the Tank Museum about twenty years ago!!! Things had changed, we had a great day and as opposed to the usual visits CB and me normally have we took time to actually read about the exhibits and actually learnt some stuff!!!!
Here's a link to the Bovington visit we made to Tankfest in June, the exhibits are as shown here with a couple of minor amendments:

Today we made the trip to the Overlord D-Day Museum in Portsmouth and again spent a couple of interesting hours there and in the coffee shop taking advantage of the free refills to discuss modelling issues and an intriguing project that should be appearing on CB's bench in the coming months Stay tuned............. The museum had some interesting exhibits and a few impressive Braille dios:
and some larger stuff:
and another dio by wounded veterans this time using sand collected from Omaha Beach:
We then made a short walk to visit Southsea Castle commissioned by Henry VIII and built in 1544.
View across the Solent to one of the five Napoleonic forts:
The view back towards the D-Day museum:
CB did the honours of running Jack back to the airport today - a thoroughly enjoyable weekend and great to finally meet up with Jack after some years of virtual friendship!
