LOVED the pictures! I have been to National Glacier Park few years and I never forget how beautiful it was. Hoping to go back there again in two years... a good friend of mine recently moved to Montana last month and he was telling us every day how beautiful it is out there.

Wow is an under-statement,amazing vistas. Thanks for posting up the pictures
Don't think the steel and concrete I'm looking out the window at right now compares. I'll try and dig out some of my pics from around these here parts that look half decent.

Hi Mark
A great idea I'll see if I can find any pics from where I live that look that attractive.

Sure brings back memories, Doc, I spent my first 35 years in the Mid Hudson valley.

Great idea for a thread Mark, you are lucky to live in such amazing surroundings Not so sure I'd like a Grizzly in the back garden but that the price I suppose ;D Doc, another beautiful part of the world too! I'll post up some pics of my home range later next week as I'm still working away from home at present. Nice one guys

Hey Steve
Lucky indeed but I had to work at it to get here. Inimical wildlife can be a problem here also but that's what that thing sticking up out of my ruck in my first photo is for, and, altho nine times out of ten they'll turn and scoot in the oppisite direction, it's the tenth time you need to be ready for. I'll be just as happy if that never happens as I do not relish the thought of tangling with a griz even with a bear rifle like I carry. Very touch and go, such encounters.
Regards, Mark

Hi all This is a great post Mark so I thought I’d share some pics of my local area up here in sunny South Yorkshire. My favourite walking place. Don’t be fooled there’s actually loads going on here apart from the great views… This is the site of an old farm called 'North America’ which was used by fighters practising strafing runs in WWII... which explains the rubble. In the distance which I need to explore is an old WWII anti tank range Although not Yorkshire this is just over the border into Derbyshire…great for walking is the Derwent Valley and the dam used by 617 Squadron, RAF, "The Dambusters" to practice on during WWII You can even follow the route they took by helicopter And a great, free, place to visit is the Royal Armouries nearby in Leeds No massive wild expanses, herds of wild goat, sorry, but a great area IMHO ;D Smudge

I've been in York in 2011, and we all loved Yorkshire. A sea of purple hills is an uncommon view, lots of wonderful places around and nice people too

Well, Smudge, it may not have goats and vistas but what it does have is a relaxing, tranquil beauty that reminds me of the Northeastern US. Very pretty countryside I think.
