Howdy Yall, Please forgive me if I'm flooding the Gallery, wasn't intending to do that but I did want yall to see the original pics of the Hue City dio that were not printed in the Military ModelCraft International article. I took these pics on the last foggy day of April, 2010 and that really set the mood. Close up pics can get you right in roll and make you feel the emotion of the moment and that is what I was after. We can never begin to imagine what it was like, but I tried to get as close as I could imagine, and the results are for you to judge. War is hell, as often said, but conveying that to an uniformed audience is paramount if we are ever to relay the pain and suffrage of those combatants, on either side of the battle. I'll give yall the straight skinny. This dio was long in the making and even painful at times, but well worth every single minute after hearing the comments from Nam Vets who were actually there, in the Citadel. Chills up the spine! That is humbling and it can set ya back a bit. I personally felt these guys still to this day don't get the recognition they deserve after the "Hell" they paid to get a job done when asked. A Marine may gripe about the mission ahead, but they will never neglect to fulfill their obligation to God and Country! Semper Fi Marine! Cheers, Ski. P.S. Thx Nick, ya made it happen!

It's so filled up with details you can look at it one hundred times and still find something new. A real masterpiece, Ski.

Thx for the great replies Guys, glad yall like er.
Funny though, the curio cabinet I built specifically for this dio is getting crowded. Time to kick the Mrs.' items to the curd, lol.
I wonder how long that'll last? bahahahaa. I walk softly and talk tough around the Bro's, but we know who runs the roost.
Cheers, Ski.

Hi Ski
Superb as usual. My eyes keep getting drawn to the guy dragging his wounded buddy by the collar.

Thx Guys,
This was a beast to build. The figures are a mix and some have been modified. The figures were a major portion of the build time, lots of oil got put down, lol.
Cheers, Ski.

This is a great tribute to my fellow Marines, thank you. and Semper Fi
p.s. You should hear the stories from the three survivors of 1/9 ' the walking dead'. My SSGT in the Corps was one of them.

I love modeling the Nam era, grew up in it, so it kinda has a historical dimension for me. I can still remember the nightly news on a black and white TV. Oh boy, I'm dating myself. Cheers, Ski.

Wow. Just. Wow. You can feel the fear, the adrenalin, the tension, the chaos and the urgency. What a simply superb diorama. "Well done" doesn't seem enough in this case! Cheers, Sam

Hey Thx Guys,
This was long in the making, but worth it all the way. Something like full emersion doesn't begin to tell the story, as I tried to feel for the impression I was after, not in the slightest. I tried to get in roll on this one, but obviously that wouldn't happen unless I was personally there.
Nick Warr really brought me in full circle and set the record straight. He really took of his personal time to make sure I got it right, or as close as one could get to actually being there. We, in the US, owe these guys a lot!
Thx for the compliments Guys. Cheers, Ski.
P.S. Semper Fi Marine!
