Hi again folks, I'm back after a couple of months and it feels good ! This kit is Revell's (ICM) Admiral Cabriolet Staff Car. The build's done. Here are some pics of it so far... A cover for the roof was made of Milliput. Tyres look good, nice detail... The painted engine, no extra details were added (yes I did resist that one). The beautiful chassis, well done of the manufacturer ! The rusty chrome rear bumper. Best regards ! G.

Thanks guys, what a warm welcome !!!
Dicky, I keep on modelling but now from another perspective, no more stress or pressure, just having loads of fun and with time for my family.
jkool, the chassis is the most beautiful part of the whole kit, painting and weathering it was an easy thing to do !
bullardino, it's nice to be back !
robbo, I had a good start but the kit wasn't that easy to build, flash here and there, sink marks, and not always a perfect fit...

spud, thanks man ! Chris.S, I enjoy modelling again and I have found a healthy balance between the hobby and other things as there is my family, friends...I wont let the hobby take control again. Boots, thank you ! Steven, the kit's fun to build. I can recommend it, it's not the easiest one. Gert, no problem, I'm glad to hear from you mate ! TRM, I'll go for a rusty appearance...I got the virus on this site you know. English is very rusty too since I stopped modelling. The engine wont be visible later, I know it's there painted and weathered (I needed the exercise). The grille was molded very well. Best regards ! G.

Thanks johnt ! Rob, now I try to take care of the rest of it... I've started the rusting on this body part : The roof cover is waiting now to get dusty and dirty... Chrome parts still need attention. Best regards, G.

Thank you, today I think I can finish the cover.
Gert, I'm afraid I can't teach you my friend ! I used the same method for my Dodge...pigments dabbed in a 'rusty' oil wash, top paint layer added and picking and rubbing...

That's it Rob, once I applied this method it started to look the way I was looking for.
Thank you TRM !
This is how I obtained the effect :
- thin layer of flat Earth,
- Raw Umber oil wash,
- earth pigments dabbed in the wet wash until everything was dry,
- very small drops of dirty but thin oil wash were shot with a stiff haired brush,
- more prominent damp spots were created,
- followed by a thin mist of matt Vallejo varnish,
- fine rain stripes (AK).

looks fantastic Guy, But if this car is so old wouldn't the roof have a hole or two in it?

spud, correct my friend, I only didn't want to start all over again sculpting this cover.
The idea to go for a rust bucket came after the making of the cover. So I had to go for a dirty dusty, greasy look.
Once the car is finished, I will sprinkle on some hay, leaves...so many ideas are growing, a diorama will be the result : an old wooden barn that once gave shelter to the car (and more !).

The seats were given a red leather look as seen on reference pics. Next to do is washing and further weathering with pigments. Best regards ! Guy.

johnt, I'm glad if I can help mate ! gert, weathering the seats was a challenge as I wanted a specific look. Dicky my friend, nice words from one of the greatest modellers of this time, I appreciate this you know ! There used to be a time when a model ended UNDER my hands, luckily that's part of the past. scratchin, to be honest I'm not an Opel fan, this car model however in 1:1 scale... The seats were weathered and this is how I did it : - to start I applied oil paint wash (Raw umber), - I then dabbed dust pigments in the wash until wash was gone, - excess was removed by a soft brush, - a transparent mist of Flat earth was sprayed on with care to seal pigments, - followed by some thin washes to create damp spots, - pigment fixer was then airbrushed with low air pressure. Please tell me if I can do more seat treatment. Best regards ! Guy.
