Yeah T your more inland, I'm closer to shore. Gonna be rough in the bay and the three rivers here will flood over for sure. Might go buy a generator to have some power.

Gents I live at the New Jersey shore. The Governor has issued a State of Emergency today from Sandy Hook to Cape May. He ordered that the casinos in Atlantic City be closed.( there goes my bets).

Don't have to worry about that kind of thing on this side of the pond, but as the Boss has said to all our "colonial-cousins" keep safe and see you all the other side of this. P

Thanks Chris and sad news about the Bounty. 20 years ago she was an attraction here at the Cove.
To all members and guests who live on the East Coast, good luck all and keep your heads down. I hear Sandy knocking at my back door already. Nothing else to do but ride her out.

For all in the path, hunker down and hope you ride it out without incident. This one's a huge monster at 1000 miles wide and winds approaching 95 mph as of this morning.

Crazy stuff....and from what ended up hitting as a Nor' Easter....one of our normal occurrences this time of year....except really really BIG! 13 ft. storm serge into New York is the kicker. Some incredible footage as the FDR Parkway was an actual river. Mother Nature is a strange bird sometimes! We fared really well in Central MA.....some branches and lot's and lot's of rain. I work in Rhode Island and they are still without power and no telling when they will get it back...hence, I am home.... ;D I have talked with a few members here and on other sites and all seemed to survive and will pick up the pieces and move on!! Almost time for a roll call to make sure everyone is OK!!

Here's hoping our friends in the NY/NJ areas are all safe and will get power restored soon. I know some of our members were directly in the path so it may be a day or two before they can get back online.

Alive and well here in Piscataway, NJ. Got my power back last night. 2 big limbs snapped off the front trees but landed in the yard and missed the cars. The top half of another snapped off and landed in the neighbors yard. Again no damage. Went for a drive around town and it is bad.
I am well inland and so no storm surge or flooding issue. All wind damage. Never seen so many HUGE trees yanked out of the ground and not just tipped over. There were some that were either lifted up and tossed a bit or were dragged along the ground after they went over. The good news was that, at least in my area, not much rain considering. Less than 3" on Moday and less than that On Tuesday. There were periods when there was no rain at at all.
At one point my front porch was on the protected side if the house so I poured a bourbon and had a cigar. You could hear the wind gusts building and coming in from the east like a squadron of jets in the distance. It grew louder and louder and then the trees were bent over like straws. It's a wonder there is a tree still standing. Truly amazing flexibility.
What makes this so amazing is that this is New Jersey for Pete's sake. We don't get this. Hope all the others that were in the path are OK.
