I use an old Titan compressor with a 10 gallon tank. It's not very quiet but with 10 gallons volume and 120 psi pressure it only needs to come on once unless I'm painting something really big.
Regards, Mark

I guess if you were to make a list of desirable features they would be:
low noise/ low vibration ( i once saw a friends comp that would jump around the floor at will....initially very entertaining but then later quite annoying)
should have a water trap/filter with a purge valve
should have an adjustable air pressure of at least 0 to 60 PSI range.
holding tank with an auto cut on/off is the best set up but at least a pressure cut out if it doesn't.
price will be variable and depend on your local market/brand availability but generally the holding tank models should cost more and should last longer because they dont work the motor so hard.
non tank, oil less piston models heat up much faster (excluding tamiya spraywork) and can have issues with condensation in the lines as a result (even with a filter /reg set up). Holding tanks virtually eleminate that problem.
lastly make sure your airbrush will attach to it! ( most comps come with a hose these days), braided hose is the way to go, vinyl hoses are prone to splitting.

Thanks guys for the info not sure in what direction iam going to go in but I'll need to work with both of my brushes Not sure why this compressor keeps breaking down it's only two years old It's oil less no tank with a trap could I be over working it? It does get hot but not like today you could smell it. I'll have to look some more online to see what is out their and the best bang for my buck This one was a few hundred bucks
