Thanks guys, I've applied two AK products today, AK Winter streaking grime, for a nice grey, almost silvery old wood effect (very effective), followed a couple of hours later by AK Slimy Green Dark, to create subtle alges effects. Tomorrow dust, more rust, moist and also finished wheels/tyres. Best regards, AG.

That's pretty impressive , you have really captured that look of old dry wood with as you silvery grey look about it .
Couple of questions, the starting wood colour did you use a similar mix to what you used on the original cart and when you applied the AK winter grime did you just spray a coat over the whole thing or apply by brush to individual planks ?
Thanks

Dear Gordon, thank you for your comment my friend. Now, let's answer these questions...
After the satin black acrylic coat as a base layer, I applied the same wood color mix as I did on the original cart, BUT I added more white to brighten the wood color. This made the color ideal for the next step, brushing on the heavy Raw umber oil paint and removing it mostly.
I didn't spray on the AK Winter grime, I used a soft small brush and thinned it down too, to create subtle tones. I went for a plank after plank treatment.
I hope it helps my friend,
Best regards, AG

T, it's not done yet this project, not by far. I enjoy myself switching between wood and metal, straw and hay LOL !
chriss, it's not that hard to build one like this, my scratchbuild talent is very LIMITED. Every modeller can do this.
Gordon, OK mate, at your service ! The Winter streaking grime is really useful for creating these dry wood effects, good decision to buy the product and test it soon, have fun !
Andy, the green grime is another gift from modellers's heaven. I'll check out your back deck my friend, that must be great too !
Rob, believe it or not, a day or two ago I first spotted the work of Chuck D ! That man is a genious !!! His diorama's look exactly like the real stuff, I had to rubb my eyes twice ! I'll try to get this cart done today. Filling it is for a later stage.
Best regards! AG.

ER, I think I can still do things to make it more realistic. Tomorrow I will finish this cart, I want to move on with other stuff for my diorama.
Luigi, I don't consider myself a master at all my friend, because I still get exited when I achieve an effect I was looking for, then I feel on top of the world !

What colour did you use for the initial wood tone?

Andy, for the base wood color I mixed Flat Earth + Buff + White + a little bit of Black.
ER, no problem mate.

Hi Gordon, no need to say sorry mate, this is what we do here, sharing information and helping each other. I brushed on heavily thinned wood glue as it dries transparent en invisible. Then I added the straw with care. When dry I applied more thinned white glue, to secure the fibres 100%. More's coming up Stevem ! Strange, this is a sunny daylight photo with all the green of the alges practically invisible... Best regards ! AG

Thanks fellas, the fun is to start filling this cart with old, rusty stuff. The bicycle frame (still a bit of work) will end up here.
