we've just finished a couple of builds at work using the alcad metalizers and thought they would be worth sharing; models 12 012 by Brembo2012, on Flickr this is the Moebius iron man kit with the working blue LED's fitted. we used the Alcad gold as a base colour with alcad clear red over the top for the red anodized finish. models 12 013 by Brembo2012, on Flickr the lustre after the clear red is applied is impressive! models 12 011 by Brembo2012, on Flickr This silver iron man is an earlier Moebius version of the Mk1 Iron man. it doesnt have the LEDS or the cooler anodized colours but we completed it in the Alclad aluminium plate. models 12 010 by Brembo2012, on Flickr we also just finished work on this Thunderbird one kit, which done by Aoshima in 1/144 scale. models 12 008 by Brembo2012, on Flickr models 12 007 by Brembo2012, on Flickr models 12 009 by Brembo2012, on Flickr This is a revell 1/144 scale Tornado F3 next to TB1 for scale comparison. thanks for looking

Alclad, the metalizer that brought me back to building model cars. Box chrome made builds look like toys. Have not tried the clear red yet, thanks for showing. Cheers Eh!

I agree, very impressive Iron Man finish. Thanks for the tips, I am going to give this a try. I plan on doing my first Sci-Fi build soon.

Fantastic painting, Brembo btw do you seal your Alclad with Clear? I tried the chrome finish on the exhaust tip of the 1/24 car but the tamiya clear eaten the alclad.

Thanks ER: i think we use the Alclad clear coat, in fact we use the whole Alclad system from the black gloss primer through to the clear. I havent tried tamiya TS clear over it, although i have used it over a number of paint brands....so the reaction you got is interesting....i might investigate that one to see if i get the same result.
Cheers Dicky: im lucky enough to work in the retail model industry. however we also do a large number of commision builds as well as repairs and alterations to all sorts of model stuff. i work longside a small talented group of local modellers and we often cross skill into each others speciality areas, get to work on some pretty unusual and interesting stuff as a result. the Iron man & TB1 are done by one of the modelling team , but were very cool so i wanted to share them here.

Thanks Brembo Chris, sorry for the late reply, I'm using TS-13 Clear a lacquer base also I did also ask prof about it but he haven't encountered it. well I did let it dry for a day before I sprayed the clear. Cheers!
