This started out as a wish to produce a Ford AA truck in the "dust-bowl" era. I had a Zvezda Gaz AA which i decided that i could upgrade a bit and alter back to its ancestor the Ford AA, so I started modifying the chassis and rebuilding the engine It was at this stage I came across pictures of the new MiniArt Gaz AA and it was pretty obvious to me that with the quality of that kit I was wasting my time , so it looked as if my version was heading for the waste bin! However I then decided to continue with the build, not really adding much more detail and just using it as a practice piece for various ideas. So here it has had a fair amount of plastic ground away from the wings to provide some rust holes , roof opened up so that I could try and simulate a torn canvas roof lining The canvas roof, tissue soaked with white glue, added and starting to try out producing some well weathered wood for the truck bed Here is a close up of the bed, bass wood with some light graining added and then stained using Tamiya paints with their lacquer thinner. You can also see that I added a light steel frame to hold the wood in place. Not going to bore you with a SBS on the painting process, the main cab was done with several layers of paint /hair spray top, the steel frame on the bed chipped with AK paints, etc Engine mainly done with AK pigments, their Engine Grime and Engine Oil above also shows use of pigments AK and Blagdens to provide both colour and texture contrast in the rust areas Finally where I am at now The model is just about done , probably need to add some rusty junk on the bed ...... probably some old bits of corrugated iron and a few bits of pipe, etc, etc. The base is giving me some issues but will get it sorted , the idea is that the truck is lying basically abandoned at the edge of a field somewhere

The steel frame is a great addition to the wood bed, very inspiring stuff, good paintwork too.

This truck looks really awesome, especially in this diorama. The high grass looks really realistic.
