Hey guys - I'm about to hit the painting stage on an early-war 1/32 Trumpeter F4F. Need to come up with an accurate mix for FS13538 (orange yellow/chrome yellow) most preferably using Tamiya paints. This is one of the few colors I haven't been able to find anything online for...any help?
*I should note that I'm colorblind, so no, I can't do it myself! My LHS only carries Tamiya (and I really like the spray consistency out of my airbrush) so other brands are less effective for me.
Hi, you could try adding a very small drop of red or orange to your yellow, this will deepen the colour.Alternatively, use a red base colour, then spray on your yellow colour.Sorry, not very scientific I know. Lifecolor do a match in their range,UA140 FS33538,its listed as RLM04.Apparently these paints spray just as well as Tamiya. Tamiya also list a spray can colour,TS-34 Camel Yellow, which is also quite a good match.
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
If you're amenable to ordering, Gunze Orange Yellow is an excellent shade for the yellow wings. And it sprays very similar to Tamiya (similar spray characteristics, but IMO better coverage in whites and yellows).
