Hi guys had a few problems with spraying some varnish as it has left a white crystal residue, any idea what has caused this or how to remove it? Martyn

Hi Martyn, you've not said what you were using but I've had this twice before, once with a Humbrol rattle can. It happen when I sprayed it over enamel paints that were applied less than a week previous, seems there's still some solvent in the paint. And once with acrylic flat varnish, Revell I think, that went on when the room was too cold, it's called 'bloom' and happens when the carrier liquid takes too long to evaporate off and just sits in the paint. As for removing it... On both occasions I had to strip it off

Bloom is correct it has happened to me twice before. you may have noticed that it occured\built up in corner areas that may have trapped the varnish, at least with me thats where it had formed. I now apply varnish in very thin layers and allow several hours to elapse in between coats. Hope this helps.
