Good Day Folks!
Looking for recommendations, on a silver for a F-14 Tomcat. What brand/product number? I am open to all suggestions, and do not have a enamel or acrylic preference. Also Same question above, except for Orange.
Thanks in advance,
-Steven

Hi Steven, Which particular F-14 are you doing? I may have some reference for FS colors, but I will need to know which scheme you are doing. Does it not give you some direction in the instructions, or are you doing an after market set of decals? Cheers, Sam

Hi Steven, Unfortunately I don't have this kit in my stash, so I cant have a look at it. However, I have had a bit of a hunt around and without looking at the instructions I am not sure what they are referring to in regards to the silver. It could be the leading edge of the wings, or possibly the exhaust nozzle? To my knowledge there has never been any silver painted Tomcats, especially in service aircraft, let alone experimental or one-off paint schemes. From what I can gather, your particular aircraft is from VF-114 Aardvarks, which should be IIRC, gloss gull grey on top and gloss white underneath. The orange should match the orange of the decal. I can try and hunt down the FS number for you if you like, but you may be better off trying to colour match with the decal orange so it doesn't look out of place. To help you out a bit, I managed to find some pix of the completed kit OOB, these may help you out a bit... kazama1974.blogspot.com.au/2011/04/1144-us-navy-vf-114-aardvarks-f-14a.htmlIf you are keen, feel free to scan the instructions and post them and I will take a closer look Hope I was of some help! Cheers, Sam

Awesome information folks! I really appreciate the correction on the color. I was a bit confused, good think I asked, before using silver :-) Also thanks for the tip on the orange, never would have though of that.
