Good Day Folks!
Have a few questions about this kit.
1) What color should I paint the diesel engine (I want to use the Cummins "gold" color) but not sure what paint to buy. It can be acrylic or enamel.
2) I am kind of a new builder, is it common for level 3 kits, NOT to have part numbers on the spur? It's a little difficult, trying to match the part to the picture :-)
Thanks in advance,
-Steven

I am thinking, that I may have to put this kit on shelf, till I get a few more builds completed. I made it to Part 3: Basic Chassis - I can't figure out Step 2: Crossmember braces how they are suppose to be attached , and I can't even find step 4 on the sprue tree - Below is a link to the instructions, if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. www.round2models.com/files/instructions/amt620.pdf

I built one of those a long long time ago. Looking at the instructions I'd say take the step one piece and test fit it in the location. It looks like the cross member (step one part) fits between the flanges of the frame rail. The step two part looks like it goes under the step one part and the middle portion of it goes against the frame rail. Alignment is the key as you want to put steps one through four on one rail first then attach that assembly to the other rail. Hope that helps. It's been a long time, probably late seventies, since I've done one of these. I built most of these AMT semi kits at one time or another. Nice kits considering they were first put out in the mid seventies.

Quick update, this kit is really making me feel stupid. I like a challenge and all, but this kit is kicking me bum. I think I would have a better chance at it, if I was blindfolded. I am going to keep at it, even if I glue parts upside-down, wrong-ways, and side-ways LOL.

I just got this kit for my birthday! Don't feel bad, it's kind of a tricky model in some areas to put together. Having no numbers for the parts on the tree is definitely a challenge. Especially if your not familiar with semi trucks. Fortunately I drove a very similar Freightliner back in the late 1980's. So I am well experienced in the colors of the real parts, and how the truck is built. When I get stuck I just test fit things until i'm confidant of their placement. Even if I have to take the next parts off the tree to see how it all fits together. I want to build my AMT White Freightliner very close to the one I drove as a crazy wide eyed young man!
