This one is still a WIP. It's Andreas 54mm Pale Rider figure. The Box The Parts The base, with a wooden base I had in the stash. Wheel Barrow assembled. For the figure, I started from the center and am working my way out. I need to paint some hard to reach areas before I attach the arms and left leg.

The ground work and wheel barrow have a coat of primer on them. Wheel Barrow was air brushed with a base color of Humbrol Matt 110 The base and pile of dirt in the wheel barrow was air brushed with Humbrol Matt 94 I picked out some stone out croppings with Humbrol Matt 64 I gave it a wash of Humbrol Matt black, W&N raw Umber, and thinned with W&N turpentine. Now I have to let the wash dry for a while before doing any dry brushing or high lighting.

LOL you guys!!! The Base and wheel barrow was dry brushed and highlighted with their respective base colors. The dirt portion of the base didn’t turn out quite like I had in mind, but a final dusting of pigments should take care of that. It also looks like I may have to let the paint dry a bit, then dry brush a final highlight. Below you can also see the figure test fitted to the base. Thanks for looking and Merry Christmas to you and yours!

jackwagon,
Define sections. ((LOL)) If you’re referring to painting parts before they go together, that’s so I can get into the tight areas that can be seen, but can’t reach. If you’re referring to splotches of color here and there, it’s kind of the same idea. This one is hard to handle due to the weight of the white metal (off Balance). So I’m leaving areas bare that will be handled a lot to keep the paint from rubbing off. Once I get to the point where I can attach it to a base, I will fill in the bare spots.

Hi BJ....I noticed in the pics,it looks like you haven't primed the figure. Is that because you don't find it necessary, when using enamels on white metal?

Hi Chrisb
I normally Drill and pin the figure from the bottom up into the leg and then clamp it in a pin vice. Then spray it with automotive primer from a spray can. But due to this one being kind of off balance and hard to hold, I didn’t go that rout. I knew that the primer would rub off while being handled, so I tried to paint a small section with out priming. I didn’t like the results, so I am priming with a brush as I go. Once attached to the base when I can stop handling the figure it self, I will prime and paint the bare areas.
Thanks for looking!!
