Hey Guys, I talked with Mr. Gary E. Boggs last night on the phone and filled him in with what I’m going through at the moment.
I decided over a week ago to stop smoking. I went on the patch on Dec 13th. Haven’t had a smoke since then. There are a lot of things in my daily routine that included a cigarette. Because of this, it’s hard to sit down and concentrate on things very long. I feel a great urge to smoke when I sit at my work bench, so I haven’t been very active with modeling.
I have spent most of my time with the family in the living room watching movies and such.
I did treat my self to some AK paint sets as a reward though. The plan is to stock up on some Vallejo, Life Color, and AK paints from all the money I’m saving by not having to buy Cigs!
I don’t know when I’ll be back in full force, but I do check in and keep an eye on things, Mainly from my I phone.
Every one have a Merry Christmas and Happy new year!!!!

Outstanding!!!
I am right with you!!! Last Nov. I quit....was good for 5 months or so...then I thought it was a good idea to have a cigar or two which of course led to more and more. December 1st was my target....on the patch and going strong!!
Need to yell at someone...have at it...I am here for ya!!
The influx in time was channeled a bit different. Channeled into my builds. I had seen I never really thought about one as long as I was focused on building. I did smoke while building but of course everyone is different...finding a trick to keep you going on the building and not the puffing!!!
Hang in there, it only get's better!! You thoughts are correct too....every pack is a bottle of AK!! Probably 3 full sets of stuff for a carton!! A couple of decent kits with the AM after a month!!! ;D
Whatever you need my friend....right there!!!

Hey Brother John, I enjoyed our chat last night...as always! John, Cigarettes took my father when i was 14 years old, so your doin' the right thing for your family and your health and future. Hang in there my friend, were not goin' anywhere and we all have yer back no matter what! When you decide to have a seat and do some modeling, just think of all the goodies you can buy with cig money and that your kids will enjoy their Daddy for many many more years to come. YOU GOT THIS BIG JOHN!!! Gary

Good for you John. Don't worry about the hobby, it will be there when your ready. We stopped smoking in the house a few years ago so having a smoke at the bench is not an issue for me. I'll be quitting in the new year after all the holiday stress is over.
Gary keep him straight bud

Hang in there many members in my family smoked when I grew but most of them have quit or smoke outside. I never forget how smoky it was when we gather for holidays... not any more and we are able to enjoy it even more now.
Maybe if you can quit I will treat you a filet mignon steak when you come to Indy for the model show... any little motivation may helps.
Go for it buddy!

John
As the son of two smokers, I can tell you that you are doing the right thing. It won't likely be easy at first, but before too long you'll be able to get back to your routine.
Good luck and good choice!

We're all behind you John, it's a tough habit to break but you'll make it through! Using the saved funds for model stuff is a good way to ensure you can reward yourself for good behavior...and grow your stash and supplies at the same time!

I was spending about $70.00 per week on smokes. I've already re directed some funds this week. ;D Courtesy of Dave at Last Cavalry

Hi John, good effort on the quitting smokin mate, it's the right thing to do. i gave up 18 years ago and havent looked back. My only advice to you, and something that worked for me at the time was this; To give up forever is a hard concept to contemplate at the start, as you have mentioned, youhave many habits that you link to smoking. its hard to just stop cold turkey. So to help with the mental side (the biggest hurdle IMO) i trained myself to give up for just that day, and i continued to give up one day at a time until 7 days became one week, then one week became 2 and then three, and then there was a month...and so on... eventually everthing became easier to handle and after 3 months the battle was won, the tension eased off, and i was able to enjoy the ability to not crave cigarettes. don't know how much i've saved since then, but i bet its payed for my modelling several times over anyway , HTH good luck on your journey, you can do it! Rich
