Happy Christmas everyone! ;D
Just wanted to take the time to wish all you guys a very Merry Christmas!
As most of us enjoy this day of food, gifts and festivities with our families (something very precious to me) and some of us also take the opportunity to wish the Lord Jesus a happy birthday (something also precious to me), I would ask you all to spare a thought and even pray for (if you are that way inclined) those less fortunate than ourselves.
There are many around us (not just in the third world, but in our very own towns and cities) for whom Christmas is not a joyous time, but one of pain, lonliness, anger, suffering, depression, and/or many other sad afflictions of the human heart.
Some have suffered the deep loss of a loved one or their own time on this earth is short, some just don't get on with their families, and some fall somewhere in between. No doubt some of you may know someone in one of these situations. Heck, there may be some here on this great forum who are in one of these situations (I don't know most of you very well yet).
It doesn't even have to be an illness or such. Many of us know someone who may not be able to be home for Christmas. My dad is in China at the moment for work, and will miss the family gathering today. And let us of course not forget the bravest of the brave, all the troop serving far from home.
We have Aussie troops in the Stan serving alongside their American brothers. I'm sure many of you guys here know someone serving O/S at the moment. Maybe you could contact them or their families to let them know they are in your thoughts. To those here who have done their time spending Christmases away from home in the service of their country, I say thankyou. I don't care where you are from. Thanks for the sacrifice. I hope you guys especially enjoy the time at home with your families!
Anyway, please spare a thought for these folk as you begin your joyous day, whatever situation they may be in. Contact them and say hi if you are able.
Then enjoy your day. Very much.
Sorry for the ramblings guys, just something that was on my heart that I wanted to share with my new friends.
Happy Christmas to all of you and your families, looking forward to much modelling joy in 2013!
Cheers,
Sam
