Hey guys . I was going over some pics i took X-mas day . Our son is deployed over in Afghanistan for a year . This is how he visits with his daufgter , via skype . Our granddaughter visited us for a few hrs . We get to see her seldom since her father and mother are devorced . What got to me is at the time all of this seemed so normal . But looking back on the pics i feel sad . What a way to have a family get together . All of our good troops over there at this time of year and we go about our lives like this is normal ..... .......crap ! :(Thank goodness for skype at least . Hug your loved ones ......................

Thanks for the small glimpse into your holiday Carl!! Sending some thanks to your son and the men and women along side him!! hopes of an early, safe return! Like you said...'Thank goodness for skype at least'!! Not to change the subject...amongst the lazy dog having a chew, the one that needs attention all the time and the indifference of the cat...I spy what looks like the Cutty Sark Something you built? ;D

Be sure to tell your son every day how much we appreciate his service. When is he expected to return home?
That's what I use every day to talk on phone... videophones which are similar to what your Skype. Am always thankful for better technology making things easier for us.

Gary , he has 20 in next year , i hope he retires . He keeps getting deployed all over the place . I want more time with him .
T, yup , what a bunch aint it . ;D The model is the Revell 1/96th Thermopalaye , pretty close to being the Cutty Sark . ;)It took me something like 15 yrs to finish building !I ran all of the rigging on it .

Special thanks to your son for his service! This time of year is always rough for deployed troops, thank goodness for the miracles of modern technology to allow for you to get to see him and share the holidays even if on a limited level.

Carl best wishes and a safe return for your son. Coming from some one who has spent many holidays away from family while I served i know how he feels. Good thing for the internet etc now a days. back when we had only letters.....you know what that is right ...lol Most people forgot how to take pen to paper. Have a safe and happy New Year to you and your family.
