Hello Gentlemen, After having done a round of introductions and being asked to post a few of my previous builds.........well here are a few of them. A Wingnut J1. My first biplane in decades. I've a few more Wingnut kits lurking in the stash. They all require rigging. Something I've not done in a long time. THis is the Tristar Ausf B kit. This is my second longest build. It's the AFV kit. The base work and kit took about 7 months. I tried a lot of new techniques with this build. I did have a lot of fun with this one. The biggest undertaking was making a master of the cobble stone road and doing a casting of it. There have been a few builds since. I am currently working on a F7F-3N that involves a lot of scratch building. I'll post some pics of it and the other builds when I can get access to the computer that those pics are stored on. Cheers Dave

I found the pics to a Panther build. It's DML's late Ausf A with ATAK Zim, Eduard PE, DML figures, a couple of Hornet heads and hands, Echelon decals. Comments and critiques are welcome. Cheers Dave

Awesome builds, Dave I particularly like the base, it's perfect and filled with nice details. What did you use to sculpt it?

Hey Dave, this is really great work all the way around. I really like the colors on the engine of the Wingnut and the wood prop. The subtle water streaks in the dust on the Pz IV as well as the articulated suspension on the base. A really nice looking base for the Churchill, the street is really cool looking. And of course, the Panther. I love that kit. The camo on the commander is quite impressive. Something I have not even come close to achieving and one of the reasons my builds still look "abandoned". Bravo!

Hello Bullardino, I used a plank of wood, sealed it against moisture and, in small sections I would lay down some Elmers Wood Filler. Into the filler I would press small fish tank rocks. I still have the master and the first mold. Ya never know..... Here's the master with the old Tamiya Matilda for scale. The grey one was a tint experiment. They were cast using Woodland Scenics Lightweight Hydrocal. Hello Snipersmudge, Thank you. The Churchill was a delight to build. I had some trepidation regarding the road wheels and suspension but, it all went together rather easily. Hello Hasenpfeffer, Thank you for your compliments. The Engine is a kit unto itself. There was a bit of scratch building on it. Though, not much. The prop was repainted to what you see. What I'd do with future "wood work" is give it a coat or two of Tamiya Clear Orange. I saw a build where the fellow did that and the wood effect was gorgeous. The PzIV was my first use of MIG oils. That was a quantum leap for me. M1Carbine sent me a picture file of camo patterns for the commander. There'll be more Panthers coming in the future. Hello Rick, The Churchill base was the longest portion of the build. I was experimenting with a lot of new techniques. There were several redos on the ground work. Thank you very much. This is what is currently on the bench. Italeri's F7F-3N Tigercat. It has some Eduard PE. A DMold resin replacement nose. I'd highly recommend that part. The contours are MUCH more accurate than the stock part. Mostly, it's a scratch build detail job. Oh yeah, Quickboost engines. Those are gems. The nose gear detail. The ROs panel. Dave

A couple of other old builds. Tamiya Mid Tiger with ABER PE fenders and mud guards. ATAK zimmerit. Tamiya BT-7 Bronco CV3/35 Tankette. A wee gem of a kit. A complete interior and engine compartment. The spark plugs are even molded separately. I found a couple of shots of the Pz base that are not very visible with the tank in place. This was my first serious working with Hydrocal. As you can see by the air pits. LOL. They actually played to my advantage in the end...That blasted Macro setting pointing EVERYTHING out. Dave

Thank you very much DickyF. Ya snuck a post in while I was trying to post photos. I'll start putting up some pics of the Tigercat build. It's a glacial pace build, so please nobody hold their breath for that one to cross the finish line anytime soon. Dave

AMAZING builds! Believe it or not I remember most of those builds especially the Churchill and Panther. I really liked that biplane... love the colors. Always wanted to try one of those Wing Nuts kits... were it difficult to build?

Hello Andy, Thank you for the compliments. I started with that Wingnut Wing kit because it was a biplane and had no rigging. A great one to get back into biplanes with. They are wonderful kits......you're gonna need to love painting.......a lot......there is a lot. Did I mention there is a lot. LOL
Hello Gary, Thank you very much. There are a couple more WW kits in the stash. There's no getting away from the rigging now.
Hello Leon, Thank you. The WW kits are truly a joy to build. And for the record I have no affiliation with Wingnut Wings. The 1/32 Gotha bomber is one I'd love to try my hand at.
Hello T, Thank you so very much. Any more, I have a hard time not building a base for armor kits. At least for me, it puts them context.
Cheers Dave

Good morning ChrisB, Thank you again. I'll work on getting the F7F build posted here. Greetings Dupes, Thank you for the compliment. When I built the master, I built it up a bit on the long side. So, that way I could get two road sections out of it for a couple of vignettes, or one for a longer base. If I need anything larger, I'll be going back to the drawing board.
Hello Joe, Thank you very much. The F7F build will be along shortly Hello Bullardino, Thank you good sir. Feel free to steal the fish rock idea......I stole it from someone else. LOL
Cheers gentlemen Dave

Hello Mence, Thank you very much. It's a great kit. An even better one to get back into biplanes with.....no rigging. It was the A-10 Warthog of the day. Lots of armor up front and underneath and, designed to strafe trenches. Dave

First off let me apologize for the late replies. There have been weekly doctor appointments for my son. So, the posting is way down and the bench is idled for the time being. But, I will eventually reply. Thank you for your patience.
Hello Babill, Thank you very much for the compliment and interest. Every once in a while I come up with something new. But really, it's mostly variations on a theme. I've learned a lot of really great stuff from other folks.
Hello Rbaer, Thank you so very much for the compliments. Armor builds, I think, look much better on a base, that can place them into a context. IMHO. I remember my very first base, that I was so very proud of. I took it to a show and as I was setting it down, I looked a couple down from mine and saw the most amazing vignette/dio. A wrecked and rusted Pv IV being bulldozed out of the way. My very next thought was "I hope the judges look at mine first". Turned out to be a work by RIck Lawler. I took a lot of notes that day.
