Having got a number of things into the paint shop and the need to leave them alone for a few days, decided that I would have yet another go at a 1/35 SWB Land Rover ............ I have tried this conversion a number of times always without success, probably due to me previously trying it with the Tamiya Pink Panther Land Rover. The combination of a pretty ropey kit + its raised suspension led to an accumulation of pink plastic in the bin. This time I started with this kit and for me it was almost an OOB build ,shortened chassis to give the required 88" wheelbase and a bit of trimming of the bodywork ....... the hardest and longest bit of the build was converting the canvas tilt to a passable imitation of a non -works glass fibre hard top. Most bits are just temporarily in place for the pictures so that I can break it down for painting This one I am pretty please with as it gets pretty close to capturing the look

Like it, when I was young I fondly remember rumbling around in my fathers '62 LWB Landy, he owned it for more than 10 years, sold it to a garage who converted it into a breakdown!
Watching with great interest...

Thanks for all the feedback, did decide that I was not completely happy with the hard top . I removed my first attempt at the rain-guttering and refined the rest of the strengthening ribs then refitted some quarter round rod for the rain-strip ....... when this was dry use the tip of a fine blade to scrape the inside of the rod to make the gutter Hopefully will get some paint on soon.

Greene, you are right it was one of the things I noted to correct on the original but then forgot .
Did not have the courage to take the drill to the painted body !
However an expert on Land Rovers has given me an out , evidently the military ones have fuel tanks under the seat, which you lift up to acces the fuel filler ...... So mine is a civilianised ex military Landy ;-)
