Finally getting back to work on this beast! I was really inspired by Marcus' 4-part build in TMMI. His "tank for the man of steel" project. I read and re read all four parts, and made a list and bought everything he used. This is my first real "in-depth" 1/35 projects after doing all my 1/48 kits. It's been fun but tough at times. Juggling between all of his articles, and the kit instructions, and all the AM instructions. Things can get a bit confusing at times. But I think I'm getting close to having all of the construction work done. I really want to do my best on this one, and see how I fare at the AMPS show in April. When I last worked on it, it looked like this. I'm using Aber PE, and barrel. Along with some Voyager PE, and of course Friul tracks. I did all the texturing with a mini ball bit in my Dremel. Since I've gotten back to it, I think I put in at least another three hours into the turret alone. All the handles were replaced with brass wire, and I added as much of the Aber PE as I thought was necessary. I've also been working on the fenders. My original plan was to leave the right side off completely, but looking at my ref pics, these things had so much "stuff" piled on the fenders, I really didn't want to leave them off. The left side is done, still working on the right side. The tracks are also moving along. I soaked them for a few days in vinegar, then about 4-5 minutes in fresh blacken•it. After drying a few days they look like this. Once I get further along, I may add some washes and pigments, but I thought they looked pretty cool just using the chemicals. OK, enough blabbing.......back to work! Clay

woohoo....finally getting back to this one eh. Man I was waiting for this.
Some bloody fantastic detailing bro. Man those tracks look great as is. Maybe just use the AK steel pig on the contact areas.
Man, I should have gotten that JS2 I saw real cheap at the last show.
Keep it coming dude.

Clay- lots to like about this one! Great, great work!
I especially like your work with texturing the turret to capture that rough look of a Russian Tank!

Hoooewaa , Clay, One of my favorite Russian 'beasts'. Nice start mate ! Any idea on the painting site? Is it used? Still in combat? Or faded away? What do you feel of making a few 'bumps' in the fenders? It's only an idea... Greetings, Gert
