Hi all, this is my first attempt in large scale armor building. The model is this one: I started assembling the lower metal part of the hull with the plastic bits it needs to fit into the upper one. Unfortunately I found out that Tamiya forgot to close the upper hull, so turning the tank upside down you can see under the mantle. So I closed the hole with plasticard: I need to build the mesh that covers the exhausts on the back, I will build this one when I will glue the top to the bottom. Hope you like it

Some small progresses today. I made six of these: and I filled with milliput a giant hole: In the meantime I'm putting all the tiny bits on the upper hull. Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures, I had to take them with my phone. Next up I will fill all the sink holes on the internal face of the tracks and I will try to scratchbuild the welds. I think I will try the stretched sprue technique, but I'm open to any suggestion.

Ooooh I like this kit, it's probably the one kit that would draw me to the 1/48 scale. Nice going Luigi, I'd like to watch if I may It's a nice kit, and with your skills would indoubtedly turn into a very nice tank, but it has a lot of little disappointing inaccuracies that make me angry with Tamiya. I'm used to see Tamiya kits as "shake and bake" ones, this is far from this status, as long as you want it to look right. For instance there are dozens of sink marks on the inside of the tracks, as you have seen I had to close the underside of the sponsons, the fit between plastic and metal parts is far from perfect. Nevertheless I love this tank, I've always wanted to build a Sherman and I will build some more in the next future. And I love also this kit along with its oddities.

atleast luigi, this one gave a lot of experience... this one will be a better kit after the correction had been done.

Body finished and primed: The top isn't yet screwed and glued. Next step I will deal with the tracks.

A little progress on this kit. I sprayed the first layer of green, a second one will be needed on the turret, and the underside of the sponsons is still to be painted: I scratchbuilt the mesh that protects the exhausts with four pieces of plastic rod and some tulle: I also painted the exhausts. I'm not very satisfied of the result, but it will be hidden behind the mesh, so I think I'll keep it as it is: Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures.

The dry brushing adds some good color variation to the base paint work Luigi, looking good so far.

Thanks all I'll have to wait a couple of days before taking on filters as I drybrushed with oil colour. In the meantime I will try to give a decent look to the tracks.

She's coming together now. Always great when the filters and washes are applied, adds depth to the model and base paint.
