Thanks Dan and jackwagon. Now saying what it is and also no SBS etc at this time . You'll have to wait fellas. She will be almost as colorful as the KV/88. Gonna brush up on some skills I haven't used in a while so this was a practice section.

Those veiny, light rust "streaks" look awesome Rob. I don't think i've seen anyone do this or read anyone sbs a technique for this. You may truly be breaking new ground here.Might I suggest you call the technique for that particular aspect of the finish "rust veining" in your sbs or article. Just a thought mate. Spot on. I'm intrigued by the secrecy:)

I personally love the welded bead look. I've read several methods of achieving this so which did you use?

Er, yup, a nice afternoon hanging with Celticwerks and Joe Farina and bam..insta-fun!! Good times Ken!! We missed ya there, but completel understand the "paying the piper"!! Modeling chess at my house. You need to move a piece to get a piece. The AMPS Show is worth it though!! Make sure you take some pics!! Hi Tiking! Not to hijack the thread For the welds on the little vinette piece, these were stretched sprue. Glued in place and then sliced with a knife to achieve the weld lood. When everything was painted and weathered...some AK Dark Steel was added via rubbing it on with my finger.

looks pretty cool T. Thing with the sprue technique is that you want to soften the sprue and form the beads, flattening and texture. Slicing alone will give good results but you want to flatten it so it's less round. Same can be done with epoxy putties as well.
Back to the steel plate. I will try to get more done in the next couple days and also take it to the show to work on while at the AK stand.
