Kind of a lazy day and not really in the mood to do any painting. Digging through my stash I found this kit, and decided to pop open the box. I originally planed to use the Tamiya Late Tiger I kit for this project, but after looking at this kit I decided it would be a better candidate as it would save a bunch of time and money that would be needed for AM stuff. At this point, I’m not real concerned about historical accuracy, but rather the “Look” of the finished model. Below is a picture of my “inspiration” on this project.

Thanks for the interest guys. The kit I will be using is the Dragon 6383 with molded on Zimmerit along with Modelkasten SK-3 Transport tracks. If anyone reading this does know the history behind this tiger at Samour, I would love to know a little more about it.

Looks like a neat project John and fitting the transport tracks will make it stand-out from the crowd. Looking forward to seeing this one come together...can't offer you much info on the actual vehicle, maybe try Dave Byrden's site at tiger1.info/ ?

Nice pile there BJ!!! Have at it!! As for info....if the link Bill provided does not pan out, check the Library, I know I popped a bunch that are Tiger Type specific in there. Tiger in Focus is one that comes to mind, but there are several.

I do know this much about it.
A late version with narrow transport tracks from 2nd Kompanie, s.SS-Pz.Abt. 102, hull number 251114. Abandoned in the Falaise gap, captured and used by the French resistance.
It would be cool if I could find a period photograph of it, but I'm not holding my breath.
Guess I'll do a little more research and find out what color turret numbers 2nd Kompanie, s.SS-Pz.Abt. 102 used.

As usual, I always start my projects with the main hull components. This allows me to do any fitting and filling with out worry about breaking off details from a previous step. Here I have the rear plate and side pieces glued into position. Fit is pretty good, just a few small gaps to fill. The top plate, and glacis plate are just test fitted in the pictures. I’ll need to install the suspension components before fixing the top plate in place. But I wanted to make sure it all fits together while building the hull. I have also removed the fender extensions and hinge detail to match the prototype picture. Thanks for looking.
