Well done on the metal-ware Gary! Shame about the holes - that'll teach you for 'following orders' , could've been worse...some people paid a much higher price for it ;D I've got a couple of - unbuilt - Lion Roar PE boxes that won't make it into my build, which are intended to go exactly where you drilled the holes. Let me know if you want them, I'm sure we can sort something out. Cheers, Dierk

LOL about the holes... so typical of DML instructions. Perhaps you can put spare wheels there too?

Hello fellas, Thank you kindly gentlemen!!! Dierk - Thanks for the offer man...thats awesome of you! I think i will put the spare wheels there like Andy said. Andy - I think you are correct. There are spares with the kit but no instructions as to where they go. I figure thats the spot! Gary

I just wanted to make sure you get another gold - instead of a silver, which is the best you can hope for with spare wheels ;D ;D

Those are the mount holes for the Ausf A stowage boxes that mounted to the rear fenders. Typical DML fashion they just recycled the fenders into the kit you're building and didn't update the instructions (happens a lot!) in relation to the mounting holes. You could just use some putty on the uderside of the fenders, push it up through the holes you've drilled and let it dry...then just a couple of quick swipes with a sanding stick would trim the putty to be flush with the fenders and voila! No more holes drilled out.
Paint work is looking good as usual, looking forward to more!

Gary, you better listen to Bill... I think he is a secret agent working for DML because he knows so much about their kits. We are so fortunate to have somebody like Bill here to help us.

I agree Andy - Bill has the goods for sure. Thanks Bill. Would it have been common for Germans to stow tarp rolls or jerry cans there? Would mounting the spare wheels there be inaccurate? Got the wheels and tracks on. Need to touch up paint here and there before i attatch the fenders. By bbd468 at 2012-09-11 By bbd468 at 2012-09-11 More tommorow! Gary

Gary,
Mounting spare wheels in those areas on the rear fenders is a possibility. I have several Ausf E reference photos that show wheels mounted in those locations...so I'd say go for that alternative over the tarp rolls or jerry cans.

Thanks a bunch you guys!!! Bill, i have decided to attatch the spare wheels on the fenders. Thanks for your input - i appreciate it! Got the fenders on but i broke 2 fender hangers getting them over the tracks, but i got them repaired. Gonna gather up some stowage and scratch up a frame on the rear deck for the spare tracks and goodies. By bbd468 at 2012-09-12 By bbd468 at 2012-09-12 Thanks for following! Gary

Hello fellas, Thanks for the comments Gents!! Got the frame built on the rear and added brass strips for tool clamp latch handles. The spare wheels are not glued in place. By bbd468 at 2012-09-13 By bbd468 at 2012-09-13 More to come! Gary

I have 3 jerry cans left but no other original german stowage. I guess ill fudge it a bit with some allied crates and cans and the like. I think i have some 1/35 chain too. Hey Mark! Thanks man. Ive rounded up some miscellaneous stowage. Its all various allied cargo except the jerry cans and some scratched barbed wire. I need you fellas thoughts, does it look reasonable or does it miss the mark. Thanks gentlemen. By bbd468 at 2012-09-14 By bbd468 at 2012-09-14 I may do a small tarp to cover some of the stowage, not sure yet. I also may attempt to make a nazi recognition flag. Thanks, Gary

Stowage looks great already... why cover it with tarp? But you are right... often I see tarp covering stowage especially during wet seasons. I can see myself laying on my back on that rolled tent or tarp... LOL

Thanks fellas! Im still decideing whats gonna be in the final stowage pile. I think im gonna add a figure and a bicycle to the mix. As far as the flag panel, i was gonna make a smallish one and drape it over the top and partialy hanging over the back edge. Ill leave the stowage uncovered. Hey Nephew, I already shared my StuH 42 with them when i joined. Thanks for posting it just the same. Gary
