Going by the size of the interior these old ambulances were pretty basic vehicles. The interior scales out at 2.2 metres which is a little over 7ft long. And there is supposedly room for 2 stretchers! A reasonable amount of equipment could be carried in a rucksack, but nothing like a longboard or spinal immobalisation equipment, not that gear like this as such, was available when these vehicles were in service!

Your right there, Grahame.They were basically just transport for casualties,not like the high tech vehicles they have now.
