Echo what everyone else has said Gary...that's quite the masterful hand-painted application! Smooth even paint, crisp lines, great pattern, it has it all! Look forward to the SBS to as tatoos are out for me as a way to improve in this department!

Hello gentlemen, Thanks so much fellas!!! Your all so very kind and im happy you like the hand brushing. Ive put together a little SBS just to show what im doing. Nothing at all special - just 3 to 4 thin coates being careful as i can to minimize brush strokes being left in the final coat. Its still gonna have a few here and there but its tuff to keep 100% free of them. 1st in trace the pattern with a pencil and mark the color with G or B. Next i take a 10/0 brush and trace the border of the camo. I then start to fill in the patterns with thin coats of the color and then i use a hair drier to dry the coat of paint. Next is the second coat. Finally a third coat. I have gloss coated the turret. Lots more to do and its gonna take some time but im determined to GET-R-DONE!! Thanks for lookin' my friends Gary

That's a great SBS Gary! Do you thin your Vallejo paints down with water? Hey brother John, I use distilled water only in my vallejo. I mixed this time a bit thin to better control brush marks. Thinned about 2parts paint to 1part water...or close to that. Had i painted tools and the like on my tanks it wouldnt be that thin. I do thin every time i use vallejo. Thankd guys, im happy that helped. Gary

I figured yer hair dryer would be seein' as much bonce-related action as mine so it's obviously a modelling tool!! Nice work there Gary and a great example of how brushes can be used to achieve enviable results to ABing - by the time this gets weathered up no-one will tell the difference Thanks Dicky! Yeah, ive had no use with a hairdryer since i was in my early 20's till now - i actually had very long thick black hair back then. By 27 - 28.....GONE....just all gone...... Good news now is the hair on my chin grows like a weed!!! ;D But you know...ive noticed the older i get - hair grows in tha weirdest places! AH...but ive said too much! ;D Gary

Very neat little SBS! I've tried using prisma color pencils in the past to outline hard-edged camo patterns but always had an issue with them still showing through the paint coat from certain angles. I can see that using multiple paint passes and quick-drying would resolve that issue, great tips here Gary!

Gary, thanks for the SBS. Was thinking of doing that on the 1/72 KT i am working on but tried something new. If it does not work out and I have to redo the paint I will go this route. Nice.

Who'd a thunk one could do so well with a brush? That's impressive times ten. I'll be sure to try this, one of the reasons I rarely do camo is the fact I hate masking and am not so good with the airbrush freehand.
Regards, Mark
