Wouts, Luigi, Sollie, many thanks guys!
Luigi I did the dust using the hairspray technique, using AK interactives worn effects fluid then oversprayed with Tamiya buff and then chipped like a white wash. Except the dust was thin so that it didn't chip in big patches but just just kind of softly as you see.
Wouts and Sollie the tow cables were copper wire which is much easier to bend and keep in place than other materials, even so it took a bit of time to get them to sit down and look heavy. They're glued in place with superglue in a few spots to keep them in place.
Cheers guys!

I always use the copper wire tow cable (being Eureka XXL or recently discovered RMG models) and they are easier to bend indeed. However, I think it's still not too easy to get a realistic sag...you defo managed it well indeed, worth the effort
Cheers

Hi fellas, ...I may have to go home and break open the piggy bank before the next round... ;D Thanks for the great feedback guys! I use a Canon EOS 30D camera on a tripod, with just the 18-55mm lens that came with it at the moment. The lights I have now are just some cheap task lamps with the adjustable arms and daylight bulbs. I removed the reflector dome thingies that came with the lamps and added ones that were twice as big, they are actually plastic salad bowls! I cut a hole in each base and screwed in the bulb through it to hold the new reflector, and painted the inside white. The reason is that I want the light to be cast from a large area, onto the subject. This way, the shadows are very soft or nonexistant. Usually there are two lights like this on, each side of the subject, sometimes an overhead lamp as well. These are some drawings of it I did a while ago: That's basically the set up, I also use Digital Photo Proffessional which is software that came with the camera. It's good for adjusting the brightness, contrast and sharpness of the images. Thanks again guys, cheers! JT

Thanks for the cameratips John. I need a better camera for sure. I have to use a black or dark background to take good pics of my models. When i place white behind them the photos go weird. Gary

John , i just went thru your thread here .This is a fine piece of modeling you are accomplishing here . I'm particularly interested in your KT as i am also throwing my endeavors into building a KT here ..the King Tiger Henchel thread . It looks like you have a good handle on the lighting to me . I've gone to those CFL and back to incadescent .Not overly happy with either . I liked your results in the latest pictures with the CFL so i may try them again . May i ask what wattage they are ? Cool idea with salad bowls man ! I like the use of what ever is handy to get the results . Really like your paint and weathering !

A big thankyou gents!
Shellback the bulbs are 15w, so not all that bright I guess. I should add that getting the white balance on the camera to match the lights is important. And I usually set the apperture to f16 for max depth of field, and take some extra shots over and under exposed to get a good exposure, especially important with a white background. usually they need to be overexposed by a stop.
Thanks again, cheers. JT

John, thanks for sharing the photo technique, I've used it immediately and it works much better than my previous settings. And thanks for the dust technique, I'll try it on my Tasca Sherman II.

Since reading your post I've googled it and there is a lot on missing linx and elsewhere about this. I tell you this build was cursed!!! Lots of little things went wrong, to behonest I'm glad it's done. And I'm glad you added your post to this thread so that readers will be made aware of this issue. Thanks again mate.
