Shellback-Thanks for the tip, I used it straight out of the bottle on the test subject. It did not look too good at first but leveled out quite nicely without filling molded depressions. Lost that bluish haze also, something I was not sure would happen.
Craigcole-Thank you sir, and yes the T-90 by Zvezda was done awhile ago. To save you the pain of wading thru this whole mess you'll find it in morbid detail on pages three and four of this thread.
Iking-Thank you also sir there is something about Soviet vehicles is there not?
Regards, Mark

Afternoon, gents Gary-The enviro friendly shiny goo worked just fine and it did not even dissolve the model as being a representation of Evil Things That Are Bad For The Environment. Musta got lucky, me. I did not think I'd live long enough to see it, but the T-80's done. Seems I've been working on it forever altho I guess it's really not been all that long. I must add that the new protective goo sure made pin washing much neater and go alot faster, should have started using this stuff months ago as advised. Enough blathering. Flat coat is about 30 minutes post application, in the next day it'll loose the sheen visible now. Kind of wish I'd had other options for the headlight guards, I think they're a bit overscale. Guess I'll have to take up bending and soldering next. Regards, Mark

Sure don't look like a rebox, not after looking at the Zvezda and Skif stuff. If I'd had the choice I'd have used this kit rather than play "fun with resin".

Nemo-I can say for sure it's not the Dragon/Zvezda whoever, the turret and the fuel tanks are the correct shape, the front mudguard is different, and the plastic is the wrong color. It's not a Skif, either, the gun barrel looks right instead of a stack of washers on a pencil, the kit in the picture looks like a scale model, not a toy. If I were you, I'd go for it as it looks awful nice.
Bill-Thanks, and thanks for planting the Future bug it was you who advised me about it some time ago.
Regards, Mark

Great job Mark! T-80 looks SHAWEEET!!! Glad to hear the gloss stuff worked out - it have a quik dry time? Ive heard people complain that future stays sticky for some time - ive never had that problem as it dries quite quik for me and i can pinwash pretty soon after glossing. Ill look for the enviro friendly shiny goo next i go shopping. Gary

The finished model looks very nice Mark . I agree there is something about Russian armor , and their aircraft , that is intimidating .Even if it isnt doing anything but sitting there its got that "dont mess with me " look .

Thanks, gents Gary-The stuff seemed dry to the touch in about 20 minutes or so but I let it cure for 24ish hours as I have learned to listen to Bill. Short update, almost ready to stick it all together This really is a sweet natured kit, a fair bit more PE than I am accustom to but so far it's all bent and stuck well. Now I have to find out where the cable goes into the searchlight, next stop Prime Portal. Regards, Mark

T-80 really looks GREAT! Glad you got to finish it just in time before Dec 21st. LOL
I never really am into Soviet armors but since joining forums I have learned a great deal and starting to appreciate them but don't expect me to build one of those soon. Looking forward to follow your next build!

T-80's looking great Mark. Perhaps you can answer something for me that I've always been very curious about...what are the tubular things attached to the rear of the turrets on later model Russian tanks for? Are they counterweights or something else? The one here on the T-80 has that unusual bent extension out the one side that has really got me curious.

Trumpy T-64 in base coat This one got problematic when attatching the fenders, if I had to do it again I'd not assemble them first. The tracks were just a bit too long and the guide teeth were too wide for the roadwheel slots but a bit of creative effort and lots of superglue cured this. Cursing in Russian may have helped. The MG mount Seventeen parts, I think. Tiny little parts. Parts you cannot hold onto with fingers. More cursing in Russian, English too as I ran out of bad words. Still, a fine effort by Trumpy. Paint should be cured by tomorrow. Regards, Mark

I think cussing is a prerequisite for building Soviet armor Mark, but your efforts are paying off!

Cussing is broader than that. It covers all modeling.
The production line has not slowed I see. Nice work.

Thanks, all I see I'm not alone in my method of decompression. Harmless, really, and it makes my girl laugh as apparently I come up with some creative ones. Since this is the last of the series I decided to airbrush a lighter. uneven light coat on instead of drybrushing since they are all green and I have to make them all a bit different Used acryllic for this for fast drying. Light grey drybrush next Should be ready for shiny goo later tonite. Regards, Mark
