Hey, I know that girl... er... frame. That may be my "go to" frame for bases. Easy to mask and deep enough for "stuff". The water putty is one of the most appropriately named products I've ever come across. I read somewhere there are ways to slow the curing process. I want to say add milk? Sounds weird. I would check that out before you do that One of the best ways to make the basic ground work is pour some of the powder on the wet putty. I like to mix it thick enough that it hold some unevenness. If the surface dries a bit before you add the dry powder spritz it with some water. Do your tracks in the dirt and press the vehicle into it final resting spot now and let it harden. Remove the powder and it leaves a surface that looks like bare ground. BTW, make sure you are wearing a mask. Don't want that stuff in your lungs.

Good suggestion... those peebles look naturally so I will paint the base before I can glue them on. Thanks again!!!

Marc, we posted at same time. LOL Thank you so much for the great toot!!! I am not too concerned about the texture this time because most will be covered with snow. But I will definitely try your method next time. However, if I can add some texture now... just little water to the base and add powder, will it work?

ER- Thanks buddy! That tractor was Marc's... he's one of masters I have been following for a long time. Carl- LOL Your wife would love it if she sees this. Glad you liked the frame... thought it would look good with snow white base. Guys- Update on the base... thanks to Marc for his great toot... I was able to add texture to the base. Just brushed the base with water and applied more powered. Easy fix but messy. Wore the mask this time... thank you Marc! Better now... sorry about crappy pictures! Primed with black flat... Next I will spray brown!

Mr Sniper- Thanks buddy! It has been fun despite being a novice for this kind of work. Glad I have great guys here helping me out...
Marc- Couldn't have done better without your help! I am starting to like this water putty thing and I can't wait to build another one for the StuG after this. And maybe for the Little Bird too. LOL Guess I owe you another beer...

Dicky- True... am really enjoying it very much. I regret for not doing bases earlier for all of my previous builds. I have 7 or 8 completed builds without bases... I don't think I will go back that far but I am already planning to build my second base for the StuG before the show in late March. Thanks my friend! Todd- LOLOLOL! Well, if I leave now and drive for 14 hours I should be at your place just after noon if I don't stop for gas and of course for nature call. I can not promise NOT to take that Pt 107 when I leave... glad you like it so far. More to come... thanks! Bill- It was fun and easy... maybe you can do the same during your next MBA class. Thanks Bill! Carl- HAHAHA! Glad you liked the little surprise inside the package... sorry I had to! Yep, unfortunately my doctor said that during my last visit... its a good thing it really helps me not to think of food while I am at the work bench.

Funny isn't it...I think about the distance and it appears long, but 14 hours is nuttin'!! I have a bit of work to do with my Dad in the morning but should be back by noon! The wife will be here...just tell here who you are and she will let you in...I assume you read lips? She knows some sign language but it's not suitable for public!! LOL!!

Todd- LMAO! I was at your place around noon but nobody answered the door. Then a lady flipped a birdie at me from behind the window. Maybe that was your wife? LOL Believe me I'd love to teach you and your wife popular foul language signs... I don't think I ever told you that I am taking my family to New England for summer vacation... so maybe you want to add extra dead bolt to all of your doors to protect your stash. LOL Guys- Just a quick update... base paint Vallejo Earth flat then highlighted with Vallejo Tan Earth. Next I am not sure which I should apply... pigments or snow? I assume pigments because I don't want pigment on the snow except for area where tracks have made contact.

Dicky- Glad you like it so far. No worries! Actually I am planning to cover half of base with snow... remember winter is about to end so ground can be seen finally after a long winter. I am trying to avoid very muddy scheme...
Gary- Thanks brotha! That's what I am thinking too... pigments first. I can always add more pigments after I add snow if I am not pleased with the result. I am really learning while I am doing this. I admit I am little nervous about adding snow... wish me luck. LOL
Luigi- Thanks buddy!
Todd- Thanks... appreciate it! Believe me it has been fun making this base... I am now determined to make two more bases before the show in March. LOL Where? For sure Maine where my aunt lives and will hook up with Dupes while we are there. We might drive thru Massachusetts to visit Boston for a day or two... we are always up to beat up Bruins and Patriots fans. LOL

Dicky- Deluxe Materials Scenic... not sure if I have seen it before. Who sell 'em? Already got Woodland Scenics Soft Flake Snow. Maybe its the same thing? I will post a picture later when I am ready to work on snow. I have been following product how to make good snow using same thread so wish me luck!
Bill- Sounds like your professor makes a great motivational speaker! LOL Thanks for stopping by.

Guys- Update on the base... I think I am in love again. Dig those products from Armor Farm that my wife gave me for Christmas... Good look at saplings... very realistic look. After using four saplings there's plenty in the box for 3-4 future bases or even more. Worth the money! Another good look at bushes... I really like 'em. Closer look... snipped into smaller bushes. Base still under construction... Tomorrow I plan to add grass, grain and barley... then I can add snow. Thanks for looking... feedback is always open here!
