My preferred solder is "TIX" a lower temp silver solder that jewelers use. It's kinda expensive but flows easy and it's strong. It comes in a tube of 20 three inch sticks. I cut it up into little 1 mm long biscuits and pick one up on the tip of the iron and apply it to the joint. Tix has a liquid flux I paint the joint with first and an anti flux that will keep the solder from going where you don't want it too. I get it from Micro-Mark. www.micromark.com/solder-tools-and-electrical-accessories.htmlTony lee

Very nice progress on the fighting compartment details Gary! As Tony points out, the right tools are everything when it comes to working with PE. Don't be intimidated by it, and don't feel like you ALWAYS have to use PE if it's provided...in many cases the PE items are included just to add 'value' to the set as opposed to improving the detail per se.

Thanks a bunch fellas! Tony ill look into that solder and flux. I might be using a bad match of solder and flux....not sure. Fellas i need some help. Does anyone have a diagram or good reference pics of the Radio wireing and the like of the Marder Command SPG? There are 3 radios and i have references for one. I need to drill the holes for the wireing and im not sure what goes where. Ill wait awhile and see what happens. Thanks fellas! Gary

Another great update and it is filled with helpful info! I even read Tony's whole thread he pasted earlier. Now I am even more motivated to give soldering a try soon...
One thing I noticed about another forum... I really liked the GB badges very much. That's something we should consider for this forum?

Guys like 6'5''. i'm 6'3" and i dont usually have to look up . Hell of a nice guy . When he works its usually not around home and he's gone for months at a time .

Gary, While this diagram is from a Marder II, it should give you an idea of where to start with the wiring. The larger of the three radio units is a separate radio (it's what makes it a command vehicle) and wouldn't be wired up with the other two, only to the power and antenna. HTH!

Two years ago Bill helped me with the radio diagram for my Marder II. Because the radio set can be seen so it looked great if you can make improvements to it. It was worth the extra work... I still owe Billy couple of beer for his help. Oops!

Gary Mine is not tornado ravaged. Here in the sunshine state it would be hit by a hurricane, or perhaps an accidental grenade detonation: This is where everything happens. Programming, business, news updates, morning coffee, evening brew, customer support, tech support, computer repair, dog feeding, and occasional modeling. Normally not this bad but it has been a disjionted and busy day. And since you asked: By the way, keep up the great work! Mike
