Sharp work on those fenders Marc! Andy, soldering is one of those must-have skills if you're going to work with large pieces of PE, no question about it! Best way to learn is to head down to your nearest Radio Shack, get an inexpensive iron with a control knob, and just play around with it until you get the hang of it. Oh, and remember, the tip is hot and will burn whatever it comes into contact with.

Bill, thanks for the tip. A good friend of mine who does a lot of soldering at his work will teach me how... hopefully soon. However he said he deals with aluminum or something I can't remember only and he isn't sure about brass. Hopefully its same technique...

Those fenders came out good Marc. I sure could have used soldering on that beast I just finished.

Thanks guy for all the compliments.
I agree with you Bill, soldering is a good skill to acquire. Now that I seem to be gettin' the hang of it I have already had thoughts of something along the lines of my Marder III and the US half track.

There you go Buddy Even a blind hog will find an acorn now and then. Over the years i've tried them all and those TIX products produce the best results. They're not cheap but you pay for what you get they say. Tony lee

Bill, thanks for the tip. A good friend of mine who does a lot of soldering at his work will teach me how... hopefully soon. However he said he deals with aluminum or something I can't remember only and he isn't sure about brass. Hopefully its same technique... Each metal will behave differently when soldering...it all comes down to the different temps required and the materials involved but essentially the process of soldering is the same, so you should get a good foundation from your buddy! Buy yourself some sheet brass and take it with you when you go for your lesson and you can see for yourself how different it is vs. the medium he works in. Marc, now you're talking! Although your nekkid HT was a sight to behold especially since you didn't use any soldering!

Thanks Tony. I ordered some Tix solder form Micro Mark. Most impressive service. Order Tuesday and got it today. Thanks sollie. Thinkingback Bill... solder would have made it WAY hardr taking the "box" apart like I had to... twice YO TREAD. Good to see you man. Thanks for the comments. How you feeling these days BTW? Wout... if your out there... you may be happy to know... or you not not give a streaming heap but I flipped that front piece on the fender around tot he left side and it turned out pretty nice.. Pics soon.

Hey Marc... I think the thread pitch on that cleaning rod end is a little off... LOL. Very inspiring work, my friend. Like Andy and some others I want to start on some soldering this year. Thanks to you and TonyLee we should have a pretty good starting point. Great job on those fenders and all the other little details. I can just tell this thing is gonna look sweet under paint.

My apologies to all the those that commented for not checking in on my own thread this weekend. Needless to say I am thankful for the encouragement. The wife had foot surgery on Friday, that went very well, and I had to stay close to home since she really could'nt get around. So while she watched the tub... just realized how outdated that expression is... I sat at the bench and got all the little fiddly bit for the tools and cables attached. Last night I finally got to get this thing primed. Here's a couple of closeups of the steel texturing with some oblique lighting. I am pleased with the look.

Beautiful... L-O-V-E the look of primed builds! Sometimes I wish I can have my whole body primed so I can look much nicer for my wife.
