all. I was experimenting with the engine grime and engine oil effects to use on another project of mine and thought I'd post a quick SBS on what I've done. I will also do one using a newer motor, painted in yellow like on the packaging of the set. I had already painted the motor and did some weathering on it some time ago but was unhappy with it. First I used some of the AK rust effects to give the motor a rust tone. Next up came some dust effects first thinned and sprayed with the AB, very light coat in the recesses. Next a wash of the dust effects in some areas as I am not worried about the entire motor. I let this dry about 15 min then used a dampened brush and AK spirits to remove excess dust and also blend this with the rust effects. Since happens when you don't let the previous effects dry completely, my intention here. Before everything dried completely I added some AK earth pigments to the recessed areas like on the real thing. Next I applied the engine grime with a small paint brush, like a pin wash. I repeated the process until it was thick and to my liking. Again, before this dried I went ahead and added and blended some more earth pigments where needed. By doing this you build up a layer of grime that can be seen on most car motors. Once dry I used the engine oil effects, applied with the small brush....pin wash...only where oil would leak or from a worn gasket such as on the valve covers. This was a quick experiment to see how these products would work on an old motor. The effects will stand out more on a brightly painted motor, which I will show in another part to this. Hope this is useful to some. Cheers Rob
