Neat little build, nice one! Quite fond of US light tank based vehicles, I have the Tamiya M8 which keeps calling to me.

Yessir very nice work there Philly - great weathering and interior work...what kit and scale is it? Thanks Dicky, that means a lot coming from you, im a huge fan of your work. The kit is Academy's M3A1 Stuart light tank in 1/35th scale (all i build). I did a lot of new techniques when i built this, and it was one of the first kits I built when i started getting serious about the hobby. Firsts for me were; adding antennas, storage from my spares box, adding internal wiring, and using oils other than burnt umber for weathering. I also researched this tank for a while before beginning (never gave it much thought before). One of the reasons i love this hobby is because you can work hard on a kit and be very pleased with the results, but 6 months later after you've built more kits and learned more, you can go back and see how much you've progressed and how much you've learned, its what drives me to keep doing it, every time i start a new kit its a challenge to learn more, do better, and take pride in what you've accomplished. You have actually inspired me Dicky to break into more scratch work, your T-62 cutaway on armorama is what led me here, its probably my favorite model ive ever seen.

Speaking of Afghanistan, I love the new Buffalo and RG-31 kits coming out, but i think its funny to see how much different they are from the real thing, mostly because they were modeled after Iraq era trucks, for example, you couldn't accurately build the new RG kit for Afghan service unless you modeled it after an early Canadian truck, also, the kit interior is compleatly wrong. Not huge issues really, but I gunned In an RG this morning, and the Huskey is my assigned vehicle, and im inside a buffalo every day. Its just funny to see real world, then a model. I'm done ranting for now haha.

If your planning on building an Iraq era Buff, then it can be pretty much OOB, however, if your looking at an Afghan route clearance buffalo, id absolutely love to help. I may be able to post some photos, but i cant post anything, or comment on any of the equipment inside the truck for security reasons.

One thing to keep in mind is that we don't use the slat armor anymore, its been replaced by bar armor, its the same thing as the slats, except its 3/4in square bars that run horizontal, (get ready to scratch build Dicky!) as far as the interior goes, the hull itself is desert tan on the inside, but pretty much everything else is black,(seats, spall liner, floor, dash, ect..) the Blue force tracker (BFT) is OD green, all other monitors inside the truck are black as well. Things i would add for authenticity; a litter hanging off the back of the bar armor, orange water cooler, white rectangle cooler inside the truck, MRE boxes but keep any MRE trash to a minimum, we stock a cooler before every mission with gatorades, pepsis, rip its, cookies, muffins ect.) we dont eat MRE's unless were really hard up. Also i would add a CROW gun system to the top, not the RWS there not the same, but you could convert an RWS set to a crow pretty easily.

Philly, great job on the Stuart. Stuart's have been one my favorites since I was a kid growing up reading G.I. Combat comic books and the adventures of the haunted tank. I've built several over the years but have never done an interior. Still have another in the stash to build one day. I like the way you've opened the little dude up as much as possible to give some visibility to the tight quarters. Well done! Rick

Outstanding build, hope you are fired up enough to stick with scale models because you have good talent for it, looking forward to your next.
