Fear not, I have not given up the MaK. Here are a few shots of a current scratchbuild from the spares box. The torso is something I started a while back with no real goal. Hands are some nice resin BClub 1/144 Zaku manipulators. These are several years old Back end is meant to look like the Ketzer engine without the armored cover. The paint chips are based on a technique shown by Francesco Benedetini. The combination of a Satin-Finish very hard primer and a soft acrylic like Vallejo is the perfect combination to create realistic scratches. Tamiya gray primer was overcoated with the Army Painter Matt Black Primer which is anything but Matt. I'd say it was Satin easy. Over this base I airbrushed Vallejo Acrylics. Yes, I was able to AB Vallejo and the results were not too bad. The paint had been giving me fits for years. I just could not airbrush the paint, it always wanted to pebble on the surface with the first coat. This drove me crazy and it looked like crap. I finally got it to work by adding a drop or two of Medea Airbrush Cleaner. I'm not sure what is in the stuff, but it got the paint to lay down evenly. it was still a bit dry and slightly grainy with the first few passes, but it was progress. When the paint was dry to the touch, I started lightly scrubbing at the paint with a piece of Scotch Brite pad. It did not take much effort at all. In fact it was almost too easy but the results look like scratches and not little paint marks. I set this aside for the night and this afternoon I hand painted the joint covers and white ID bands. The scratches are a bit stark right now but will tone done with weathering and some extra paint work.

Thanks guys. Glad you like it. This is one of those slow burn projects that has been going on for months. Hopefully I can speed things up a little more.
