Should really be finish other stuff off , but currently don't have a painting place until the weather clears up. Anyway, this is the result of about 3 hours work. Be AWARE: the instructions with this are atrocious! Mine seemed like little more than a badly photocopied print –the contrast was so off it was virtually impossible to make out detail and therefore judicious dry fitting is a must here. As per the standard sequence with most early Zvedza armour , construction of the hull tub from flat plates is the first order of business. Using the nail clippers to remove the relevant items with a minimum of a sprue nib remaining- as seen here; All in all goes together quite well, and as mentioned earlier, sensible dry fitting beforehand helps to minimise any problems. Watch out for the exhaust vents –part A 21- nearly missed then due to the poor quality of the instructions Hull top – fairly straightforward. No issues to report here. Clear styrene parts supplied for crew periscopes fitted and coated with liquid mask to protect for painting. Separate hatches are supplied for driver, vehicle commander and squad leader, but in the absence of any interior detail and the lack of interest(i.e. ability) to create some, these were attached in the closed position Bow MGs need a little filler to blend in. Turret -in this instance I’m still in two minds as to whether or not I should include the ATGM- primarily becuase I'm thinking of an Afghan finish. The breakdown of the LP 76mm gun seems a bit over-engineered. None the less goes together reasonably well. More work later -running gear and various hull attachments TTFN P

Hello gents- thank you all very much. Martyn- no plan to replace the barrel in this one- but I do have a barrel for the BMD-2 in the stas.
It has now had a blast of primer which has highlighted a few problems that I need to sort- but nothing too major. Promise some pictures later. TTFN P

Some pics as promised; Good ol' Halfords Auto primer the weapon of choice for thissome of the more delicate bits and pieces were left off until after this stage - but unforunately not enough of hem. The bow mgs in paticular were lost to clumsy fingers, but all is not lost as I have some nice Albion Alloy brass tubing that looks like it will fit the bill. Also you can see the effect of the running gear arms being supplied in scale thickness- them darn fingers again... The white stuff is the residue of my spot filler of choice- Vallejo plastic putty- easy, dries quickly and excess can be removed with a damp cotton-bud and some (gentle) elbow grease. next stage is to use Vallejo primer ( in Soviet Green) to serve as a 2nd primer & base coat for what's to come. Busy 10 days ahead so no updates for a while I'm afraid. As always ACW and graciously received. P

You could always chalk up the suspension arm damage to a mine! Nice to see this one progressing Paul, making good time on it.

Leon, Bill - thank you very much fellas. This is a rather speedy build for me - whether or not I get to slap any paint on this anytime soon is another thing though. Hopefully by the time I get to my 1000th post there'll be something apporaching completion. P

Well then, Post 1000 and I've got something to show for it All paints from Vallejo; Second primer/base coat in Russian Green darker than I was expecting but still a good basecoat; Then over that we have: Vallejo US olive drab from their primer range - gives a better (to my eye) shade of green. Then the stipes are Modelair Sand and NATO black (from the ISAF paint set) Have to say I'm happy with where this ist at the moment, so ow its down to the fun bits next... ACW P

Thank you kindly Bill. A question folks: I've never given anything an all over gloss coat before and I'm planning to do so for this one; I have some Model Color gloss varnish in my paint store, would I get away with thining this down to put through an AB or should I source some Modelair Gloss varnish? P

I usually use Future to cover my builds... I used to water it down but not anymore after hearing from others that they don't thin it down. I am not sure how thick Modelair Glass varnish is so I am not able to answer your question but I thought I'd bump this up so somebody can answer your question.

Cheers for that Andy. I decided against the all-over gloss and went instead for gloss patches to lay the decals over, which I've limted to the bort number and then re-seale with a brush coated matt varnish Not an ideal result i'm afraid- some silvering evidentt I hope to be able to loose it under subsequent weathering. Update; A very soft wash(more akin to another filter tbh) this time with some W&N raw umber and once dry followed up with a dry brshing with Ab502 Buff. A tad harsh in one or two places, bt that will tone down with some more of the weathering to come. I've decided to minmise chipping and just go for judicious use of pigments. I have noticed the paint splatter on the turret- it'll get hidden behind the tarp to be stored on this side. As always folks;all comments graciuosly welcomed P

Sounds like you've got a good plan laid out for this one Paul, the key is to stop just when you start to hear that little voice say 'maybe I should add a little more...' because that's usually when you've already gone too far!

Onto trhe pigments; amn impromtu visit to one of my LHS had mevcomming away with some of Humbrol's new pigments- namely dark earth and smoke. The former were rolled out for the running gear and lower hll and fixedin place with some Tamiya acrylic thinner (X-20). Pictures below give you an idea of he result; much the same as other pigmenrts (and tbh a lot more for less £££ - so I'll be getting some more of these) same side in more detail; oposite side - still wet... As always ACGW P
