I am trying to decide how I should store the left over parts from various models.
I have a lot of decals, figures, etc... How do you store these left overs?
Do you keep them in their original boxes? Or do you consolidate them by nationality, type, etc?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Right now I have them stored in zip locks temporarily written with info which kit it came from. I have craft & tool organizer that comes with 25-30 drawers and I am planning to sort them by tools, fenders, turret, etc instead of variants so it will come handy one day when I try scratch building.

My solution is very simple...I use one of those 'hardware' sorting bins with the little pull-out drawers (plastic) and clip off the parts I want to keep when a kit is done and store them that way. Reduces the amount of space I need in terms of total storage and I don't bother trying to catalog or sort. Chances are low that I will need spare parts but you never know! For stuff that has a higher chance of getting used like spare tools, weapons, or similar those I store together in their own little bin. As for decals, unused ones go back into their protective plastic sleeve and then into a larger pull-out bin in one of the storage holders. I've just about filled up my 2nd one and will have to either a) go through the older stuff and see what I want/need to keep or b) go buy a 3rd one and keep on trucking.

Decals are all in a few boxes, sorted by nationality of subject. Parts are in old kit boxes, sorted by family of chassis with the exception of Sherman parts, of which I have such a large supply of I haven't taken the time to properly organize. The best I've done is to almost get enough spare parts in one box to build a complete Sherman. Figs are in one of two boxes: IDF and everything else. Bagged AM parts are hanging all over the place, no particular order. And then the brass......well, it's all over the place too. I could do better, since I frequently "find" something that I had forgotten about, which can sometimes be fun.

Personally, I have them all in an old kit box. However, if you want something more organized, check out the tools area at the department store (like Target) and look at plastic organization boxes...most have small bins built in, some which are adjustable. Also, check out the beading and scrapbooking sections at the local craft store (like Michael's), which have similar boxes with compartments. The beauty of these are, they stack well and can be customized by subject....get a P-Touch labeler and you're golden!!! Photoboxes are brilliant....I have a brand called "Cargo" that I use for my wargaming bits...

I keep mine in some storage boxes ~"organised" by function e.g. wheels, stowage, tools etc. No real snese or organisation to it beyond that tbh.
