Thanks guys! I saw Edi's pics, mini SBS and the reference pic. If I had seen that pic during the build I would have trashed the fenders more thoroughly. Doing that now would pull them off. :-(
Oh well- if this one was perfect I wouldn't have to build another- and I want to!
Watch this space - should be updating once a day or so till she is done.

"T" it may not look like it but there's still a lot of little pieces and parts I want to put on it. I have a hard time with OOB for some reason,I hear the call of the wild when I open most kit boxes. NO PAINT before its time Tony

Tony- nice tidy work! Re-doing the weld beads adds so much and really makes the kit your own I think. The SU-76 is looking brilliant- Here is my progress for tonight. Washes using AK Interactive, Mig Productions and Windsor Newton Oils. Tracks: Wheels: Hull: I handpainted the markings because I had added a lot of texture using Mr. Surfacer. I know some guys can get a decal to lie down nicely over stuff like that. I can't so handpainting was the way to go. Since I had to put on the numbers no washes on the turret tonight. Tomorrow .... Here is the template I sent over to my friend who sculpts masters for Celticwerks Casting Source - Frerik Noordhuis. Frerik will knock something like this out in his sleep. Here is where I left it tonight. Many half hour sessions ahead of me. Have to let things dry between subtle layers. Steve

Slowly working on the charred parts and the transition to the painted parts. I have seen Rob's finished products but never done this myself so I am moving slow and reflecting on the results. What you are looking at is all AK Interactive products (over Tamiya Acrylics base colors). No pigments yet- they will give me more intense orange and red rust tones and nice black smoke stains which will cover a lot of sins. Not sure whether I love it or hate it at this moment ... if you have ever built a model you have been there. What do you say guys? Be blunt- please. I can change direction if needed. Steve

Steve, I missed this update.
Your on the right track dude. When you do this type of stuff it's best like you said to go slow. You should be able to see where needs what as you go along. If you keep going back to ref pics you'll have a good guide.
I like to leave the pigs til the end when I do use them. You can however start applying them now, the rust tones. Then you can tone it down by removing some of it if you don't use a fixer that is. The Black pigs for the soot will also add to the effects that you have now. Right now it might look weird to you, but wait until the soot and ash is on....you'll love it.

Hey guys- I appreciate the comments Dicky- thanks! I am a fan of your stuff- If you like it I must be heading in the right direction. :-) Chris- Like Stalin said - Quantity has a Quality all its own. I like clothes pins as clamps because I can get 40-50 for $2. No matter where I am in the workshop I am within arms length of one of those. :-) Here is today's progress. I am loving the AK Interactive products and I understand why Rob likes torching his projects- this is FUN! Slow and Steady- Steve

Not too bad a day, installed more odds and ends, the side wall and welded it in place. Rolled up a tea bag for a tarp, looks like it has too much material. Also the stowage loops look way out of scale, might just make some out of copper wire. That's it for today ;D Tony lee

When i look on General Lee SU-76, something in this model make me to feel small. When i look on Steve T-34 i wish to make something from Balcan conflict, but... What will happen with me when i look Robs Pershing?

No reason to feel like that Zlikovac it will only hurt you credit score. I cut off those out of scale loops and made new ones,I feel better now. Put some green on the canvas cover to visually shrink it too. OK,back on track again Tony

Tony- the old stowage loops looked great- but I knew if you didn't like them they would be gone. The new ones are better though! Great work seriously! It is tough to back track when you are this far along.
Rob- why is that I am sure that the Pershing, the JSU-152, the KV-1 and the LOKI will probably be done before my T-34-85 :-)
Deadline is January right?

Steve what I build may not always be correct but I want what's there to be pleasing to the eye ;D those other loops were an eyesore to me. ;D This GB should last as long as the war did don't you think Steve? Thanks Tony
