I had to chuckle at what must have been a true mystery for you Bruce! For some reason I had a kind of 3 Stooges imagery in my head of the launcher continuing to whack the cabin in the 'head' until you figured out the need for the raised box. Nice fix!

Thanks Bill. Were you looking in while I was trying to figure it out? I think the most amusing thing about this is I knew the whole thing sat above the frame the whole time. I guess I was just having "senior moments". Anyway, it's moving along pretty well right now.

Your not the lone sailor on the Ship of Fools, I have a life time ticket. I had to stop slapping my self on the head as it was blurring my vision as often as it was happening. First rate work and looking more like the real thing with every post. Im glad you did the early version since the later version was in inventory so long that I think every third world country on the planet had a fleet of them, yours will be truly unique to the genre.

Thank you very much Bones and Jeff. I do understand about the blurry vision . I just like how the earlier versions (as well as the ZIS trucks) looked. The vehicle I saw (the one that started the whole thing) is a late one, possibly even post-war. Jeff: I really want to take her to Roscoe Turner next spring. That will be her contest debut. Thanks again to all of you for your input and support.

Hello everybody. It's been a slow week on Katy. I have some fine tuning on almost all of her major parts, so it's taking some time. I did finish the rear of the rails and their locking handles. I hope you can see in the pictures that the rails are stamped in the rear with numbers. It took some looking (and a few emails with the Artillery Museum in St. Petersburg) to figure out ehat these numbers are. It turns out they were the firing order of the launchers. I hope to have more very soon. Thanks again for looking in.

Thanks Leon and Bill. I was surprised that the numbers weren't sequential. The odd numbers were on the left, and even to the right. My guess is they launched the rockets this way so they wouldn't hit each other when they were coming off the rails.

I didn't know much at all about the ZIS trucks or the launchers when I hatched this idea. I could probably write a research paper on them now (no, I will never do that). Basically, the ZIS trucks (the 5 and 6) were pretty crudely made copies on 1930 Autocars with copies of Packard engines (also pretty crudely made). I do remember thinking "How hard could this be, it's a truck"? I was very wrong, but I would still build this (most of it differently). I thank all of you again for your interest and support.

Thank you Ray. I almost have the front of the cab fitting where it should, so I hope to have a few pictures soon. I think final assembly will begin in about a week (fingers, toes, and eyes crossed).

Hello everybody. Today is somewhat of an anniversary for this project. Six years ago today I saw this vehicle in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. The idea really kept at me the next day when I was in Moscow. I think the Russian Vodka made the decision for me. Anyway, I managed to get the radiator plumbed this morning, and I hope to have more done on her very soon. She is now in her final stages. Thanks for looking in guys.
