She sat neglected until I felt comfortable with my airbrushing/masking skills. The paint is mostly Floquil Railroad colors. The base is Mud, Slate is a mix of Pullman Green and CNW Green, the silver gray is Depot Olive, white and a dash of black. I have since worked on the decal silvering issue. After some snide comments on another forum, I chose to come here and post. I don't mind criticism, I want to improve, yet I won't sit for snide remarks made in a bad natured way. G

I don't blame you there G, thats why I like this place so much, good group of freindly fellows who like to help each other out! I've seen this else where, was it on Face Book? It looks sharp, I really like your colors! I have a small selection of Floquil colors myself.

Thanks all!
John she's been on a few forums, this is her first posting here. I did put her on Finescale just a week or so ago.
Dicky I appreciate the comments, she is a great kit. As per our other conversation, there is no correct color, and I think I did old Major Caunter proud with this one.
Leon, looks like some of us orphans have found a home eh?

Clint the majority of the masking was done with plain old tan masking tape cut into thinner widths. I used Tamiya tape on some areas as it's a bit stretchier. The engine deck, and some delicate or hard to reach areas were masked with Silly Putty.

I know its not a Shermie but I have to say this is my favorite. Maybe because of its colors and figure posture. Great work here!

Yo G! Missed this one originally...great Job! It is a great feeling when you feel comfortable to do something you shied away from earlier and end up pulling it off!!! You summed it up when you said masking skills. Number one thing one can learn to do is to take the time and have the patience to mask off. I learned this with ship building...the extra time put into the mask pays off so much in the end. Don't ever worry about negative comments...Mods are like Pit bulls around here..some in Kiltutus too....they won't stand for it! Keep up the great work!!

Thanks guys!
109 this is a great place to be, the absolute talent on these pages is astounding. Everyone shares too, no BS.
T let me say this. When you pull off a feat that you feared would go wrong, well it's a real headrush.
I just want to comment a bit on the remarks remark. I have no issues with criticism, hell no one knows it all and we have the best of the best roaming around on here. Yes I want critique, yes give me suggestions, but damn why be a snide ahole?
My fave comment from the raving ahole, haha, was on this build, and I quote "it's a shame about the decals." That's all, just that. This summarized the comments received on nearly build I posted. Rant over, I have the flu.
Love you guys!

Some people can be short and blunt I suppose. In itself, the comment wasn't bad it was more the lack of anything else. It is not easy for some to mention something they see as a shortcoming on one's work. Others it seems easy...sometime it can be a dialect thing too. Language barriers can make some comments seem worse than they are too. Focus on your accomplishment of gaining the masking lark and knowing that you have made strides in learning new things to improve your work!!

Fine Matilda here G
I guess the one of the differences between this site and others is that everyone here has sense enough to offer advice along with a critique, and takes pains not to appear condecsending about it. This is enough for me, and is why I have abandoned all other websites for this one as I don't need someone giving me attitude about what is a hobby to me. All here make this the best place to be!!
Regards, Mark

G,I remember this build, in My opinion it looked really good on the other forum, and it still looks really good here. I know what you are saying,I was thinking about hosting a group build, but ran into a couple of very heated threads and thought better of it. I don't care what people say about this build,To Me it looks great ANYWHERE Jeff T. P.S. Dude, you CAN build, and you CAN paint, don't let anybody tell you different.

Taken out of context the above comment seems harmless enough, brusk, but harmless. If you knew though that every comment he ever made on any of my builds and only my builds, was like that, it would be obvious. Also every time this midget commented on any one elses builds he was short and to the point, helpful, but never condescending. Funny thing is, he's only posted one build I can think of, and it really looked good. The guy apparently knows his stuff, but took a dislike to me.
Listen, my rant was just that, a rant, I appreciate the comments. That's why when I foundthis place I decided to stay. It is after all a hobby, and one I've been at for 50 years now. I'm too old to be defending my HOBBY to some moron.

Well said agentg.....I'm one of those who finds criticising another's works a little hard since I'm no expert but criticism can be ok when done with an objective view.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Great tank with an amazingly challenging camo pattern well-pulled off! This is a great place to build skills, share your work, have a laugh about a hobby, and be kind to one another. I think sometimes people forget that we're talking about plastic with paint on it. Also, I'm pretty sure similar situations were what spurred the creation of this fine forum, and why the laid back, respectful approach is one of its fundamental philosophies. The point, were that a problem here, the mods would squash it. Just my thoughts.
Thanks for sharing your builds! A pleasure to look at.

Nate Thank You sir for all the positive comments. You mentioned building a Sherman in one of my other threads.
DO IT! LOL
I build USMC armor as I want to replicate the Corps through history in that area. Look at all the diverse builds just within the PTO I have already. 56,000+ M4's were built, so there is a lot of leeway.

We all interpret what we see differently. I believe our builds capture a "moment in time" so to speak, thus how is mine any better/worse than yours?
I was at a local clubs show Saturday and spent all day perusing the other entries. I too enjoy looking at other folks builds.
Richardoram: Antenna is mounted since the pic, I had no idea about the pennants. I'll add those shortly. Thank you for the photo it is very interesting.

BTW I've been building models since age 7. I'll be 57 this September...........

Hello AgentG, I am seeing more and more familiar names from long ago in other places. You've done some great work on this beastie, which I must say is one of my favorites. It's good to see your work again. Dave aka hughes2682 from another forum is what seems an age ago.

Hello Dave! Good to hear from you again. Thanks for the compliments. Steve I had this one sitting for four years before I tried that camo. I still amazed myself with the result. Geek I started my daughter with those dinosaurs, great learning tools they are. G
