DAK Panzer 1

This is my first build in over a year (due to a new job). I decided to build this little Tristar model that I've had in my stash for quite a while. Construction was mostly straightforward with just a few issued - mostly related in the construction of the upper hull due to a poor fit. This was easily fixed with a small amount of filler. The construction of the tracks was a bit tedious due to their small size.
No major major fit problems were encountered and the overall detail of the kit is outstanding. The model is almost reaching completion and I will post in progress photos here for input and comments.

I had a Tristar Mk I once, until I looked at the track system. After realizing what was involved in putting them together, I just closed the box and sold it. It was way more than I wanted to get into.

These Pz I's look good to me and you're make a nice job of this one Mel, looking in the background of your pics, do you use Tamiya Yellow top thinner for your builds?

That first top-down pic looked awfully green, but all the subsequent photos seem to be color spot-on.

Loving the weathering...especially on the glacis. Are you using a sponge for some of your chipping?

The tracks were something else! I came close to throwing the whole thing out the window a couple of times. I kept thinking of other options for tracks – but had to bite the bullet and use the kits’ tracks. I mostly use Tamiya thinner, but also 96% alcohol. For weathering I used primarily the Hairspray technique, however, I also used a little sponge and regular chipping with a brush. Here’s more in-progress photos.

I bought this kit on ebay (got a good deal) but it came without the MG-34's. I got resin ones from TaHk and used those. I think they may be a bit too long - but they don't look too terrible. Here's the kit mostly completed.

That's one VERY FINE looking little Panzer!!! Oh man, I think I am going to take out and build my Pz II and do a DAK version soon. Can't wait to see it done!

Thanks for your kind compliments guys! Here's the photos of the PZ I finished. I re-learned a lot of little things during this build (I thought it amazing the amount of little "tricks" that somehow I had forgotten in the relative short time away from the hobby). The tracks kicked my butt and had me seriously thinking about setting this kit aside for a while until my model building skills improved. I made mistakes along the build - but luckily I was able to overcome those and finish. This was my first DAK vehicle, but will definitely wont be my last, the painting and weathering was a blast!

Aside from the killer shots in the sun that show the spot on color, was the excerpt from your statement.....that is what it is all about right there!!!
