This is a Trumpeter 1/35 scale T-62 1972 version model kit.
This is a medium tank of Soviet origin that was widely used in the Middle Eastern conflicts such as the Iran-Iraq war.
The kit is finished in Iranian colors based on reference photos made during the Iran-Iraq War.
Khorramshahr is one of 2 Iranian operations during the war which culminated in the liberation of the city of Khorramshahr.
Working together with Operation Undeniable Victory, the Korramshahr operation eventually expelled all the Iraqi troops from Khuzestan.
The tank was made with minor modifications using styrene sheet and tubes; brass wires and vinyl tubes to enhance the fuel pipings, fuel cell shock dampeners and also to demonstrate battle damage and other battlefield modifications.
The main modifications that were made are the discarding of all 4 mudguards and the 2 rear fuel cells.
The portside toolbox is also missing as intended.
The fuel drum was also repositioned and I also attached a civilian version on the tank for some variety.
These were done to show battlefield modifications as the Iranians experienced materiel shortage as nobody wants to sell them weapons during the Iran-Iraq War.
The Iranians cannibalized their own war materiel for spare parts as shown on the build.
You can notice that some of the wheels are still painted on factory red primers to show the supply constraints experienced by the Iranians.
The accessories that were used are assorted Tamiya, Verlinden and Academy items.
Of particular note are the aid boxes marked with the Red Crescent (counterpart of the Red Cross).
Further enhancements done are the slogans that are painted on the tank.
You may take note of the Kalima slogan on the front glacis plate; the Allah'u Akbar slogan on the turret and the Revolutionary Guard logo on the turret and hull.
The slogans were frequently applied on Iranian combat vehicles as the Iranian society is still awash with religious fervor due to the Islamic revolution.
The Iranian tricolor is also painted on the gun barrel for battlefield identification.
Last is the flag which is made from Scopa decal paper pressed into an aluminum sheet that was thinned and sanded down.
Crewmen are not a permanent fixture.
The finish is made by using Tamiya acrylic and enamels together with Vallejo acrylics.
Weathering mediums were made through the use of AK Interactive washes, streaks, chipping fluids and pigments.
Thanks for looking!
