Hello Peeps,
Warning, Health and safety Officers turn away now!
Ok guys I have a question,
Lately I've been catching up on "you Tube" on airbrushing and well, I don't see many using Booths.
I'm not thinking of re spraying the Enola Gay, just a small amount of paint so as long as I use a mask I should be ok I guess
Do you guys use em?
Ularoo!

My bench is in the basement... having a airbrush booth really helps. And I still wear my mask every time I spray... better be safe than sorry! My personal defense gear... paint booth from Pace...

I paint mostly with enamels so a spray-booth is a must for me. No way my wife would tolerate spraying inside without one...and even then I had to do it in the garage before I had my little painting/photo studio added on to my office with double exhaust vents for the booth plus a roof extractor fan to vent the fumes. Like Andy, I also wear a breather mask while painting for long term health reasons. Lots of things we work with (especially anything lacquer or toluene based) can be quite nasty over time in terms of exposure effects, so better to be safe.

I don't post here much, but I look daily. I haven't been able to do much for the past few years as my hobby room at the house is in the basement with only a small widow. I've been wanting a spray booth for years but never had the $$. A new friend of mine is a modeler too and I was talking to him about a booth. he used a rubber maid container and a fan with vent hose. Sooooo......I made one for $19.62! We tore apart an old air hockey table and I kept the blower for it. I mounted it to an old Rubbermaid container(that the wife said I could use). I wired it to a light switch, I didn't need too but hey it works nice. It runs up to Styrofoam cut to the window. And it stores nicely when not in use. I cut a furnace filter to fit and help keep some paint from going out the window.

Built this myself from stuff I had in the shop. Total cost - about $60.00. I build mostly 1/350 aircraft carriers and wanted a booth big enough for that so I built it 36" long. It's a downdraft, through the booth floor, filters, then out the window. I used to have to heat a 2000 sq foot shop up in winter so I could spray for 15 minits. Now it's right there in my model room. Sorry Guys, I've neglected my own thread here,
Being away and all I didn't realise it was still going. There are some fantastic ideas here, I know I need one so I guess i'll save my cash and splash out but maybe not $300/£200 (the wife would have me gonads nailed to the wall within days)
Nice man caves as well guys

Hey Mack, I built my own spray booth using a bathroom exhaust fan routed to a window. I have a mask but don't use it nearly enough. Fortunately, the exhaust fan really sucks

Hi Rick, Although I feel i'm pretty handy on the DIY front, i'm not sure about building it myself.

With some DIY basics, and a bit of planning, you could knock one together. Here's pic of mine. It's a wood box with Masonite top and bottom and pegboard above the exhaust fan. The bad stuff gets sucked down the holes and out the window through a standard flex dryer vent hose. The sides pull up and lay flat inside with the lid latched to the bottom to keep it all in one place when not being used. I think it ran about $75 altogether. Rick
