Carl, thanks buddy! I've had to break out the AB more times than usual on this one but should only need one more round of painting after the compartment interior is finished up. Definitely getting its exercise on this project! Dicky, Ed Zachary! Ian, glad to have you drop by! Bronco molded the rubber rims separately so that makes it easy to get a sharp demarcation with the hubs, another nice touch in the detail they've provided IMHO! Steve, thank you sir! Camo is still a little ways out but getting closer!

Thanks Joe! Rob, glad it was worth the wait for you! Wouts, thanks as always, I'm happy with how the seats turned out as well, this was a new method I tried out and it's one I'll continue to refine as needed for the look of leather cushions for the future. Mac and Momcha, appreciate the comments as well! Bruce, forced to do that out of necessity this time around...I don't usually paint in stages preferring instead to get the paint work done as much as possible all in one setting...makes it easier to keep paint and finish consistency IMHO. This particular build is a little different however so some adaptation was called for. Glad you like it and that you've picked up something new for the future!

Carl, sorry to hear your AB gave it's last but sounds like it soldiered on for a good while! $15 isn't too bad to keep it going at all. AG, thanks, it will provide a good foundation for the weathering to come without turning too dark in the process. Been a mix I've used for some time now that works very well for creating a nice weathered DY look. Leon, thanks for dropping in as well and for the continued support!

Catching up here from Iowa! Looking great... nice bird view shot of the Marder! It made me wonder why they didn't move the gun forward to make room for the crew? Looking at it... no room for both the crew and the ammo. Crazy, huh?

Looking at it... no room for both the crew and the ammo. Crazy, huh? Has to do with center of gravity and ability to absorb the gun's recoil Andy. That and the long gun barrel were factors in terms of where/how to mount the gun without over-stressing the chassis too much. They solved the ammo storage issue by putting it all under the gun mount and on the sides of the fighting compartment forward of the splinter shield. There are ammo lockers for 14 rounds there to serve as the 'ready round' supply. Definitely don't envy the radio operator though...he's got the most cramped position of them all!

Hey Bill, Looking great buddy - I'll echo what's already been said, that shade of DY you use is really nice. MM Enamel iirc? This should be seriously sweet build, it's always nice to see your work during the painting process I'll be starting my Bronco Pz.II Ausf.D next weekend now the JP's about done. looks like a great kit and if it turns out anything like this then I'll be very happy! Keep them photos coming dude! Ben

The DY shade I use is Testor's Model Master enamel Panzer Dunkelgelb and MM enamel Light Gray mixed together as a 50/50 ratio. Look forward to seeing what you do with the standard Bronco II-D!

Started in on the fun part this round with the weathering work on the fighting compartment and the rear portion of the gun. As a foundation, I created some scuffs/chipping by stippling MM enamel Burnt Umber in various areas and then sealed that up with a coat of Future and allowed it to cure overnight before applying more weathering. First step involved a wash of MM enamel Raw Umber, then some dry-brushing of the 50-50 base-coat mix, then a second wash of MM enamel Raw Sienna, more dry-brushing of the base-coat mix, then a pin wash of MM enamel Burnt Umber, and a last very light dry-brushing of the base-coat mix where the pin wash had been applied to round things out. All those layers were then sealed together with an application of MM Lusterless Flat via rattle-can to remove the remaining Future gloss and unify everything together. The gun received slightly different treatment. I hand detailed all the various parts such as the breech lever, the gunner's and loader's triggers, the breech block, the sight, and the control wheel knobs and then it too was given a coat of Future on the inside portions only since there's more paint work to be done on the exterior pieces later. The gunner's sight was molded solid on both ends so I used a pin vise and micro-drill bits to open up both their faces for added detail. Chipping/scuffing was done with the same stippled Burnt Umber approach prior to the Future and then post-Future a wash of Raw Umber added followed by careful dry-brushing of the 50-50 base-coat mix to create the weathering. That was all sealed up with a dose of the MM Lusterless Flat at the same time as the fighting compartment. And just to be sure it all 'looks right' together, here's a top-down shot showing the gun in position along with the weathered fighting compartment. Next up will be spending some time on the MK workable tracks, need to get them squared away and fitted properly before finishing up the hull details and getting it painted.

Looks better with the weathering Bill. Don't mention tracks, I have to get some done for the 3 KV and Thor models....argh.
I'm sure the exterior will look just as good as the interior does. Love the sunday wild Bill updates btw.
