Hello everybody,
In the, not too dim and distant past, but before I joined MSC, I had got as far as putting some
4BO onto this and then abandoned it for some reason.
As the number of shelfqueens is starting to rival the number of my finished models, I thought it
was time to do something about it.
The kit itself received minor modifications and had Eduard PE, Hauler PE shovels with sanded down
toothpicks for handles and an Armour Scale (?) mantlet and barrel added.
True to form, this build was not unaffected by the occasional visit from the F$&K Up Fairy: the
track sections fit perfectly before I joined upper and lower hull...but the final fit was marred
by them struggling and falling apart and refusing to go together I got quite sweary. They're
not perfect, but it's the best I could manage.
The gap on the front of the hull is not one of my finer moments...
Despite rummaging through all my modelling stuff, I could not find the headlight lenses, so I
nicked the one off my Hobbyboss T-26 (I plan to give that one an Elf headlight - of course, I
found the lenses as soon as the glue had gone off...in the bag with the Elf headlights, which
I'd actually had in my hand during my earlier search...
Where the jack and tow-cable went is anybodies guess.
Since I'd abandoned the build, I'd accumulated some AK, Mig and Vallejo lotions and potions and
did some experimenting. I'm quite happy with how it turned out. I'm hoping to have captured the
look of a tank that had gone through some deep mud earlier, which had then dried in the sun.
Initially I had painted the skin of the figures by TANK with enamels, pretty poor. So this is my
first attempt at using some of the Life Colour set. Although there's obviously room for
improvement, it is the best result by far that I have achieved up to now.
The pupils don't show in the pictures at all - they're there, honest.
The after market mantlet is much better detailed than the Dragon item - but doesn't fit very
well.
I'm actually quite pleased with how it turned out, however, I'm always happy to get hints and tips
on what I can improve.
Thanks for looking.
