Update time... FINALLY I started the tank itself. After having some issues and made some shopping [e.g. 0.8/0.9mm cannulas from a nearby drugstore] thats the result so far: For the "Woodstock feeling" I created a puddle of mud, consisting of X-22 Clear and Gryphone Sepia. Needed several tries to get this done, cause the result was a bit annoying at the beginning. But then.... yeah! Decided to put the tank slightly in more Forward Position and to give it a lower angle. Nevertheless a real BEAST! Front MG reproduced with a 0.9mm cannula. Those cost 0.50 € only each. Ridiculous, really. But convincing! BAIL OUT! FIRE IN THE HOLE... Oh man.... I really dont want to be in this trench... So far.... so good (?) Cheers!

Yay... Tracks are on and Im quite happy with the result so far. Just one little spot needed some rework [plastic sheet]. This caused some trouble, cause the track material is relatively soft, sanding resulted in a little loss of details of course and the material itself didnt react like I expected it. Anyways, the tracks will be dirty at the end, so it doesnt really matter. That was simple, then the twin MG followed. IMHO 2x 0.45 cannula is enough for that scale. Of course the tank is "in action", and therefore the MG wont have the same position. There you go:

Found some interesting base material that probably will be added here. Originally thought for HO scale train model dioramas etc, theres a set from the German brand "Busch" with some small animals. Okay, its 1/87, but hey, then its smaller rats then. Unfortunately, theres one thing about this kit that NEVER happened in my 15 year modelling "carrer" so far. One of the sprues was molded only half side, another one is completely MISSING. Was my mistake so tos say, should have looked inside the box. Oh boy... Anyways, theres 6 sprues left, mail to the salesperson [customer complaint] was sent, and I need just two small rats so far, so its okay then. Pictures later.

This puddle of mud looks really great. How exactly did you do that?

Thanks mate... Well, this puddle of mud was trial and error, basically. I did it like that: First of all, Tamiya Clear was mixed with GW Gryphone Sepia. The layer was ca. 5 mm thick, and needed almost 2 days to dry. After that, I realized some white spots. Great, the coat reacted with the white glue underneath it. Dammit... And now? That layer was sealed with pure sepia washing then. Plus THINNED clear [not pure again], mixed with sepia and olive drab [here: Vallejo]. The trick was to pour the clear coat in the puddle first, then the other colors. I used a florists wire to stir the colors irregularly. I realized that you have to watch the bubbles coming up sometimes. That happens if you pour the liquid in too quick on the one hand, or on the other hand the liquid will react with its underground... Stitch them with the wire [or a similar thin, sharp thing - a needle would help too, I guess ]. Its like decals and softer. Patience is the key. Dont even think about touching it once you filled it in. Do something different, really Let dry, add a final clear coat, and there you go. Hope that helped a bit?!

Mail had been anwered instantly, with the result that new sprues are on the way, for free of course. Now THAT is what I call a good customer service. Heres a picture to show you what I mean [arrows for the molding mistakes, CMK 1/72 figure for size comparison]. The rat paint job was piece of cake: dark grey priming [Tamiya Dark Sea Grey], tail pink - yay.... finally a use for THAT Color - and a Devlan Mud washing over all. Glue it, happy happy, joy joy!

Grrrr..... Those L-profiles for the upper bars are real trouble shooters. Guess Ill wait a while until I can buy some at my Hobby shop separately and build those parts scratch. Thanks to Mr. JohnT and his WIP Report of the 1/35 scale Mk. IV that is at least realizable.
Until then... some other scratch work left to do!

Well. Had to pause here a bit. Just got a call from the owner of the local hobby shop, the Airfix figures have arrived. He will bring them along to the Leipzig Expo this weekend. A propos Leipzig Expo... Im looking forward to this all time long, cause ist a relatively small Expo, but - and thats more important - a kind of "family meeting" if you can say so. Small villa, small Expo but loads of classy models. Furthermore, some Czech people will be there, and I need to talk to some of them [cause of the Ju52 project]. Another reason why its paused is that I had some issues with the original L-profiles. Here again the owner of HSC will bring some around. Customer service at ist best, eh?

Wow, a Tadpole, that sounds most interesting. Go ahead with that one, Im curious Hmmmmm. Unfortunately he didnt bring along the profiles. But some figures Those remind me of the old "Queen" classic. "FLASH.... A-HAAAAAAARGH!!!!" Hell no, those flashes are horrible - the figures look neat on the box, but dont dare to take a look inside. So Im gonna try to soak some spare figures - got loads of them - in hot water to harden them a bit, then the Flash cutting will follow. Im loving it. No, really

Love the 'Queen' reference. Those guys look like they got some bonus styrene in their molds, but a little clean-up effort will set them right.
