Ok so here she is. The 9th Lanc now in the collection. ED888 was built by A.V.Roe at Manchester in early 1943, and was assigned to B Flight 103 Sqdn based at Elsham Wolds, Lincolnshire. After completing her 50th sortie she received a DFC in November 1943. In November 1943, ED888 was one of the founding aircraft of 576 Sqdn also based at Elsham Wolds. On October 31, 1944, ED888 returned to 103 Sqdn after completing 100 sorties, ED888 received a DSO. After completing all 140 sorties plus 2 Luftwaffe fighters shot down, she received a Bar to her DFC. Unofficially nicknamed "The Mother of Them All" she was struck of charge on January 8, 1947 and scrapped. She was the only Lanc to complete 140 ops, and so was the highest scoring of them all.

Beautiful work on one of greatest bombers! I can not say the best because friends here would disagree and start another lengthy debate about Lancaster and Flying Fortress.
