After finishing helping with jobs, I decided to do a project that I've been meaning to do for a while, but never got around to. Long story short, I had an old boat that I had bought at a garage sale years ago, as well as a RC boat, and decided to combine the two ( I didn't really like the looks of the RC, and do like the "new" boat ). Anyways, I spent the afternoon putting the electronics from the Rc boat into the garage sale one, and generally tinkering - this is the result ( my mum took the running pics): I barely gave it any throttle (wanted to make sure it wouldn't sink before i let it go fast), and the battery didn't last long, as i hadn't charged it much, but it was pretty fun nonetheless. It will be able to go 20ish km/h - haven't tried yet). Next I'll repaint the boat, but otherwise leave it as is (well, maybe new windows). IF you guys want, I can try to get some video of it running tomorrow. Thanks for looking!

Oliver
Your efforts are very impressive and you have converted the Garage Sale Boat into a sea worthy craft, The first picture you posted caused me to have to take a good look because the wake was so realistic for a real boat in the 20 foot class. I though maybe you were chasing the model in your dads boat. You have the gift for scale models and should stay with it.
I will be watching for the refinished boat when it takes to the water.
Bones.

Thanks all - I'll try to reply in-depth later, but i have to go soon. The vid of the boat may be delayed by a few days, as this just arrived: As some of you may know, I recently ordered an R/C, but had to return it as the ESC's waterproofing wasn't up to snuff - It deided to catch fire when It got damp >.< . anyway, this is what I chose as a replacement, and let me tell you, It's AWESOME! I'll try to get some video tomorrow or wed. It also seems to be unbreakable - I've done multiple flips while spinning on 3 axis's lots of times, and it's fine (4WD too ). It also came with a bag of parts (spur grars, A-arms, etc), so i won't have to order anything if i break it. -Oliver

Alright, Finally got around to repliying . Herre we go. Relating to the boat: Thanks all, It was pretty fun - still amazed that I got it working in under 4 hours . When I repaint/varnish/etc, I may add some weapons as well as guardrails/etc to make it look more 'busy' - and the fact that they're awesome . @ Boo - The 5ive looks pretty cool (googled it), and GIGANTIC - Pics would be really cool! Are you doinjg an electric conversion, or leaving it gas? Now for the EXO: Thanks again, I really like it. I haven't been able to break anything yet, so that's a good sign . I'll try to get a vid up soon. @ gary - Yep, It's pretty fast . I believe it can go up to 35kph-ish with the stock electronics. I'd surmise that the kids you saw had an gas/nitro R/C, as the electric type (what I have) is actually pretty quiet - just wheel noise mostly. I'm planning on making a track for the EXO somehwere on our land - once I've chosen the layout and location, I'll post them here. As above, I'll try for some running vids soon. -Oliver
